1. Hi all,

I just found out about the following recording of last year's Gothenburg soundcheck:

    [urlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAyWhdR61E[/url]

At the end of the clip you can see The Edge working on some guitar sounds and then he starts to fiddle around with some chord progressions. One of them seems to be promising, which Bono notices. Immediately, Bono invites the other band members join in on a full band improvisation. And when they start playing, the clip stops...

Since the song looks promising I was wondering if anyone knows of a recording of this soundcheck?
  2. They are known to do some unreleased songs during soundcheck. Although most of the time they are more jams than songs.
  3. U2 work on new material quite often during soundcheck. Most of the stuff never makes it to the recording studio. Some of it is very interesting, some of it is just awful and you can see why it wasn't explored further. There are some occassions however a basic idea makes it. U2 records every show and soundcheck and if Bono likes an idea during the check he will tell Joe O'Herlihy to mark the song/jam and give it a title so he can go back to it later. So if the band thinks it is a good idea they will get back to it eventually and revisit the idea.
  4. Yep, U2 records their soundchecks and often comes back to them when they like it. Sometimes they come up with interesting stuff! (i.e. during one of their soundchecks in 1992 they play an early version of Zooropa).

And to come back to my question: does anyone know of a full recording of this soundcheck?
  5. link aint working for me
