    MATRIX (ALD/AUD)

    Phase correction > speed correction > Waves S1 > Har-Bal EQ > PSP Xenon > Flac (6) / MP3 (v0)

Not much to say about it: nice show, nice sources.

There's some confusion about the "soundboard" source, some claim it's an ALD which would be correct if you'd ask me.

Most you'll hear in this matrix is the (mono) ALD. (The widely circulating version is fake stereo -- that is, one channel was inverted which hurt my ears too much. So I turned it back to mono just like the original recording was.) The excellent audience source was mixed in not too loud because I liked the directness of the ALD. But it did add ambiance, width and, well, audience.

Some screaming, clapping and a few loud pops -- not too often and I don't care about it much.

Overall sound is direct, crisp, slightly agressive and very enjoyable imo.

    Enjoy

  2. I'm on it

Thanks for your efforts... AGAIN !
  3. Wow, thank you so much- this show's on my queue, I can't wait to sub the soundboard recording out for your matrix.

  4. ^ you're welcome, to me this is a nicer listen than the ALD alone and due to the failed fake stereo effect someone added to the ALD it was a tough listen, at least with headphones. As that is fixed, it's a sweeter listen. Hope you'll enjoy.

    cheers

BTW Mediafire mirror added to first post.
  5. Some ALD receivers are designed for stereo, but a when the venue feeds only a mono signal (like *all* the time, the receiver appears to decode it so that they're inverted from each other. It's messed me up before when recording with an ALD.

So actually--it could have been that way in the original recording.

Thanks for explaining -- I didn't know. I presumed a bootleg company decided to fuck up a basically good recording as I got this ALD from some silver, but as you say it's possible the original recording has an inverted channel.
Luckily it's not too important, like with the Hansa Ton demos it's just a matter of flipping one channel and that's all.

It seems many people aren't even sensible to phase inversion and as a matter of fact I've listened to aformentioned demos for years without hearing what was wrong. But this ALD, or at least this silver, was much worse.

I wouldn't even know whether a better (i.e. mono) source is in circulation as well. The source I have comes from U2T.

If you download this matrix please let me know what you think, your opinion is highly appreciated.
  7. I can take a swing it it. Curious, could you get me the raw files? I might be up for taking a swing at this matrix. Would be interesting to compare tactics/notes.

I usually keep the raw files, at least for a while. In this case I didn't, I don't know why. Sorry for that, I would have sent them your way otherwise.

Weren't you the guy who suggested that people could share speed corrected raw files instead of complete matrixes, so anyone would be able to make his own mix according to his own taste?

That was a good idea, although it doesn't count for the fact that people's own mix wouldn't be mastered properly.

When I feel like matrixing another show I'll keep in mind to archive the raw files.

Anyway, this one wasn't too hard. The ALD contains two edits: the intro to Bullet is partly gone and between Pride and One, part of the silence is cut.
The AUD was running quite fast. I stretched it for more than 103%. To synch it tight, I needed to cut it in four (more or less equal) parts.
Moreover, I believe both the ALD and the AUD have a short overlap where disc 1 and 2 faded out/in, both at another part of the show -- in short: a pain in the ass.

    cheers

  9. Thanks

You will share in lossless format?
  10. Scott Z was the one who suggested about sharing the raw files. I tend to get a little leery of that...but I suppose that comes out of pride (and not wanting people who have no clue how to mix tackle my recordings). But could be a valuable idea possibly on the next tour leg. Maybe I should toss up the raw iem feeds for pasadena and let people have at it? Would make a fun bonus for the dvd.

Anywho--know a good place where I can get the original aud and ald? Or does u2torrents have it all?

  11. U2t has both sources, I think. There also was another matrix of these recordings, not sure if it's still there, though.
