Of course this is totally simplified.

Yes, it's simplified too much. Now they're paying tax in the Netherlands. The tax is lower but the Netherlands are spending a higher percentage than any other country of its income to global aid. So I don't think it matters much when it comes to dead kids.

I still feel O'Toole is a hypocrite. Any stick will do to beat a dog.

Not that I care anyway. I don't bother about U2 business, I don't even care whether they are nice people or not. I just like U2 music.

    edit lol @ risto

small correction: they're not. It's Sweden, Luxemburg and Denmark. Followed by the Netherlands. ;-)

more than Ireland anyway so arguably U2's tax in the Netherlands does more for Bono's causes than it does in Ireland.

The Irish are skint and hate success figures. U2 are perfect for a rant
  4. That would be something for someone who knows dutch and Irish tax law and U2's income...

I wouldn't care, if Bono wasn't such an idiot about that whole Africa thing.

    What do you mean?

  6. That he doesn't help Africa.
I partly explained it in that other topic. Sick of Bono or whatever it was called.

I guess you're right, I just wrote that because many Dutch complain a lot about how much of their hard-earned money (where's the ubb code for the irony sign) goes to Africa.

Anyway. I'm all but an expert in this department. I don't listen to Bono when it comes to aid, I rarely read it when someone writes about it. But as far as I remember, I thought the main point of the guy usually was not giving money, but open the markets. "We don't want you to give money to Africa, we want you to buy African products", that kind of stuff. If so, indeed I do think that is the better approach, and an approach that has nothing to do with his greedy tax attitude.

Again to be honest I don't care too much, but sometimes I'm just tired of the surreal rivalry between people in who has the biggest heart for dying kids. This Mr O'Toole seems to have an ego comparable to Bono's. I am the best! I know the best how to save the world! No more dying kids when I am the boss of everything! Don't vote for Bono! It is his fault children die every minute because he pays tax in another country!

    Sucker.

I mean O'Tool of course, not you yeah
  8. Ireland has a bigger problem than U2 if companies leave the country in favour of lower taxes.

Also I dont really care about the business behind U2. Do they deserve all the millions? No. Is it fair a whole country profits of a business that gains their profit for 90% of other countries? Not really.

But again, the music matters to me.
