1. Hi guys, i know this is a tricky question but here goes :

I saw U2 twice on the Joshua Tree tour (Paris Hippodrome and Cardiff arms park) at both gigs they DIDNT play Where the streets have no name....

As this song was "probably" the most important (was certainly the most difficult to create) on the album it vexes me to this day as to why they didnt play it but chose to play lesser songs at both gigs like "i trip thru your wires" and "in gods country".

Intriguingly they only ommitted streets during the summer europe concerts but played it at every gig in the 2 north american tours.

    Any theories?

    Best wishes,

    Chris
  2. who knows is the best answer. It was omitted during outdoor gigs. I always say that this was because the effect of the lights flashing on was lost in the daylight. That flash was always a powerful moment (which has lost its touch these past 2 tours). Thats one reason but watching the Croke park video of Streets in 87 shows it was still great in outdoor daylight.

  3. The editing in that is awful
  4. That crowd are crazy. But look at Croke Park! That has changed so much since 1987.

Just found out that it was 23 years ago today that U2 performed in Croke Park, Dublin for the Joshua Tree Tour.

    Yep, that's true - 27/06/1987
  6. Vid is from a 'World In Action' ITV documentary from 1987 - brilliant viewing.

Yeah they ommitted Streets on occasion electing to open with Stand by Me/C'Mon Everybody. I dunno the reasons but sometimes if they played the same venue over a couple of dates they mixed the opener I know that was the case with 2nd show at Croke (day after this video) and the indoor shows at Glasgow S.E.C.C.

Jumping at the start is great here but Modena (Stadio Comunale) takes the biscuit
