1. Any big Prince fans around here care to make me a "Best of Prince"? I recently acquired "Purple Rain" and "Sign O' the Times" (the albums, not just the tracks), as well as his Batman soundtrack, and I'm looking to get more into his music

Just a good 10 or 12 song starter will do, minimizing on the tracks from the albums I've already got. Even though closing it off with Purple Rain is probably inevitable

    Thanks, if anyone can help!

yeah they have had way more success in europe and south america than they have in the states, where they're usually (very wrongly!) described as a one or two hit wonder. they released 9 albums as well as solo projects, if i'm not mistaken.

give some of them a try if you like u2/coldplay/depeche mode etc. they're well worth a listen.

Over here, in North America, I can recall hearing anything beyond "Take On Me," "The Sun Always Shines On TV" (really like that one), and the theme of one of the 007 moives.

Well for Coldplay, you definitely need to listen to all their albums. Also, there should be a Best Of Coldplay sticking around in this thread.

Glasvegas - they are pretty crap, so I don't know if I would bother

Paulo Nutini - listen to New Shoes, 10/10, Jenny Don't Be Hasty, Last Request, Rewind, Candy, Coming Up Easy & Pencil Full of Lead. I think you would really like Paulo Nutini actually.

I'll be honest with you, I've only heard those 3 artists out of the list you posted.
  9. You haven't heard of Brandon Flowers? He's the singer in The Killers But some of them are more Swedish... But I haven't heard of all of them either Hence my query in this thread

    Thanks for your recommendations

That's nice, the festival has a playlist too

About Glasvegas, you should take a listen to "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry" (which makes IMOCHTMMC, SIAMAYCO, SYCMIOYO are all beaten here ).

About Coldplay, everything is really good about them. You must know them a bit after all, but every album deserves being listening.
    - Parachutes is the quietest, with many ballads and acoustic songs on it. Not the one I prefer, but it's musically very good. Best : Shiver, For You and Everything's Not Lost
    - A Rush of Blood to the Head may be the best of their four records, every single song on it is so damn great (except A Whisper maybe, I don't like it). Best : Politik, A Rush of Blood to the Head and Amsterdam (you might like this one if you don't know it I guess)
    - X&Y is really good too, it might be a bit more produced than the first two ones though. Best : Square One, Swallowed in the Sea, 'Til Kingdom Come
    - Viva La Vida is a bit more surprising. I was fond of it at first, now it might be the 3rd on 4 (just before Parachutes). Even more produced than X&Y (Eno...). Best : Cemeteries of London, Yes, Death and All His Friends

I was almost forgetting the Prospekt's March EP, which is pure crap. Glass of Water is powerful and Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground nice, but otherwise...
