1. Why is there such a slow uptake for tickets in Germany? And why are the band booked to do so many German gigs? Berlin struggled to sell last year on it's own.

Highest ticket prices in Europe, no particular U2 hunger after last years leg. Neighboring countries have their own shows. Nevertheless Germany is one of the most important music markets, so that's the reason they play, I guess.
Can't be worse than Popmart numbers, though.

Why, how bad did Popmart get? I knew there were half empty (or half full depending on your take on life ) stadiums but thought that was largely confined to the States?

Popmart only sold out about 11 out of 93 shows. Also, in Popmart, they done 3 nights are East Rutherford and Chicago and I don't think any of the 3 nights in each city sold out.

    And I was reading this:

In Europe, the worst market was Germany with 0/5 soldouts!
  5. I've saw some humbling youtube clips from 2/3 empty stadiums. Performances were still great though.

Wow bizar figures, Mannheim is a great bootleg though.

Thanks lads! Very bizzare figures. Makes me wonder if in 10 years time the U2 of the 00's will be thought of in a far better light than it currently is. People on here seem nigh on obsessed with getting songs from Pop in the setlist
  9. Indeed, quite surprising. Meanwhile, they are doing just one gig in France that was sold out a few hours after tickets went on sale. And I don't know what to say about UK & Ireland. But that's another subject.

That may have been the capacity to those venues but it all depends on how many tickets were put on sale. Here are actual figures

    July 27, 1997 U2 Butzweilerhof Koln, Germany $1,059,067 27 662/35 000

    July 29, 1997 U2 Festwiese Leipzig, Germany $702,396 18 463/25 000

    July 31, 1997 U2 Maimankt Mannheim, Germany $716,281 18 828/25 000

    Aug. 18, 1997 U2 Zeppelinfeld Nuremberg, Germany $1,153,149 29 916/35 000

    Aug. 20, 1997 U2 Expo Gelande Hannover, Germany $1,520,437 40 183/40 183

    Only Hannover was sold out.

Believe me buddy, these were the tickets put on sale. Hanover wasn't sold out. Also remember that they played fileds, literally fields, not stadiums or anything with seats.
