They thought that ZooTV was crap...

This is exactly the point I tried to make a few weeks ago but nobody believed me MANY of the people who attended Zoo TV / Zooropa / Zoomerang didn't really get what they were seeing. In fact many would tell you their favourite part of the show was Streets > Pride > Still Haven't Found (aka the classics) by then. A big big portion of the audience didn't first understand what they were trying to do with the screens, the media overload, the irony. Only those who watched the Sydney or other video recordings of the tour ended up getting its greatness. I know because that's what happened to my parents, and to many other attendees I've spoken to through the years.

That's crap... Zoo TV and Zooropa were the best, I saw 3 shows- one indoor and two outdoor, nothing to get apart from a show with excellent visuals and even better songs.

    Congrats

It's so sad that so many people, including my own parents, have lied to me in the past regarding this. Thanks for enlightening me!

^ can confirm. my dad went to the Leeds Zoo TV show and thought they'd gone too far, he didn't get it at all and found it way too "psychedelic", in his words.

he's always maintained seeing them on the JT tour was way better
  5. That's crap Dan, I'm sorry.

Yes, my parents said that they'd just have preferred the band to have played the songs, no Mr MacPhisto calling people, etc.. must be lies now.

  10. Mcphisto was 5 mins of the show... It was fun in parts, heavy in others such as Sarejevo link up but the whole vibe and atmosphere was amazing, it cannot be compared to JT nor Elevation, Vertigo, I+E, etc and only the people who experienced it will know what it was like to be part of that era.

People not in attendance can still form opinions.
  12. Nobody said they couldn't... They can watch and listen to bootlegs and hear stories from people who were there. I never attended any 80's shows and I would say that Lovetown and JT would have been great, better than UF and War, see opinion, wasn't there but listened to boots and watched vids. Cheers
