  1. When I heard the clip of Magnificent's intro, with the droning guitar chord and beat, I got excited. I thought and still think that part of the song is sublime. I HATE how that part is cut on the single mix as well as Falke's Radio Remix.

    Magnificent and MOS's intros are classic U2: long but integral musical introductions a la City of Blinding Lights, Zooropa, New York, Where The Streets Have No Name, and New Year's Day.

    Breathe should have been track #1 - and I agree with your earlier post of removing tracks 5-7. None of them are very progressive when compared to the rest of the album. Imagine:

  3. I included the ellipsis to suggest that a few other tracks could be included (like Cedars, WAS, Winter). However, maybe they could have just released a digital EP. Seems like a very current thing to do.

    When JT first came out, I bought all the singles on vinyl. My friends and I loved Silver and Gold and could not understand why they left it off the album (while including, for example, Trip Through Your Wires). This may surprise younger fans, but back in the mid-80s U2 were known as a very political band, and some folks thought with JT/RH that they were beginning to sell out, doing more commercial songs like With or Without You, Angel of Harlem, etc., instead of their hard-core political anthems like SBS, New Year's Day and Pride. I always thought adding Silver and Gold would have made JT even better, and also added another strident political song to the set. It also adds another heavy rocker, along with "Bullet The Blue Sky" and "Exit."

    I don't see why you can't add a song. There is no reason why every u2 album has to have 11 songs.
  5. Well, not every u2 album has 11 songs, but JT does, along with ATYCLB, Atomic Bomb and No Line On The Horizon.
