1. well im trying to send this as an email to the stade de france, however it isnt working so i think i will be sending it as a letter. have a look and see what you think...

    "hello
i attended the U2 concert on saturday evening. i had qued up since 9am with many others to find when the gates were opening security failed to deal with a crush happening at multple gates.

i personally spent the concert struggling to breathe after being CRUSHED against a gate! security stood there forcing people through and failed to control or even ORGANISE the ques and crowds properly!

i still sit here now with extremely soar ribs, struggling to breathe without any major pain, planning to go to hospitol tomorrow for an Xray.

i also find that when i try sleeping at night i see images in my head of the other spectators being crushed and seeing children and woman crying there eyes out due to the mass panic!

now me and many others who have had this problem are considering legal action for this poor performance, as it has led to traumatisation and injury!

a petition is currently being set up for people to sign which will be sent to bands and other artists/event organisers insisting the Stade De France is no longer used as a venue for these sort of events as it is clearly not capable of organising such big events.

    regards"

totally agree, never ever doing a european gig again, how come we dont have these problems at UK venues? no one runs, no one pushes, yet soon as you go abroad, its every man for himself.

also when we got in the pit was full and there was already 4 rows of people around the center circle!

what got me the most is i could see a young kid crying his eyes out, he was one of those getting crushed near me with his mother and father, like i said i cant sleep cos its all i see in my head

European gigs are fine in general, I never experienced anything like this in many
    other cities.
  3. well i spoke to some belgians, germans, all different nationalities who have been to not just U2 concerts but other big names and they said they have never had a problem like this, they said it was the worst thing they had seen, and for kids to be exposed to this aswell is shocking,

stade de france should never be allowed to hold big events again after that shambolic effort.

  4. Well, something like that happened in Turin and I said to myself that I'll never ever attend to another U2 concert in Italy. Well, I probably lied to myself, but organisation there was like we were animals or something, people were fading away and getting hurt. I was lucky because I had 20 of my friends along with me so we all held for each other, so nobody got hurt.

  5. Yep, something like this happens most of the time, Sometimes heavier, sometimes smaller...

Security was really tight btw,. not easy to get in the gear.

Not easy suggesting that you were able to get it in?

Shame about the stadium issues. Seems they are just happy to receive their booking fee and run.

i started queing at gate x from 9 am, numbered 161. fences up etc. at 1.45 while the band were clearly sound checking City of Blinding Lights, some security removed one of the gates, causing a mash rush, 3 people were hurt and carried away by the crush.

Security failed to step in and watched the mess

As the gates began to open, the crush began again, and i hate to say it but i was crushed against a half open gate, 2 people next to me collapsed, and i couldnt breathe, again security failed to step in.

all through the great concert i struggled to breathe, got dizzy and felt sick.

i LIMPED back to the hotel after the concert, failed to sleep as to be honest i was traumatised by what i saw at the gates, i had images of the HILLSBROUGH disaster ringing through my head.

as i type this i still have severe pains in my ribs, which im going to get checked at the hospitol tomorrow.

i enjoyed the concert, but i must say im tempted to take legal action against the stade de france for the poor organisation and the damage caused.

im just hoping i can get some sleep tonight cos i havent been able to sleep yet since the concert.

hope no one else on here had that experiance

I'm so sorry to hear, I hope you'll get better soon. I was number 190. My girlfriend and I went through the same ordeal, but didn't get hurt. We were both outraged, though, since we know this doesn't need to happen - it is very far from being inevitable. I am happy to sign a letter to be sent to the Stade de France.
  8. Idiots in Paris.
  9. Listening now to the bootleg - awesome concert really. Possibly one of the very best so far (though they really seem all great).
  10. I was at the Paris show on Saturday. We arrived about noon and queued at gate D. The lack of organisation was shambolic and when the gates opened it was a total free for all.

Having been at the Dublin shows in 2005 and 2009 which are generally really well organised, the setup at the Stade de France is a disgrace. Added to that the general attitude of many in the 'queue' was 'screw everyone else' and how nobody was seriously injured I will never know.

I've gone to U2 shows in the UK, Dublin and France previously but not seen anything as poor as Saturday in terms of setup. Is this how the European gigs are organised generally or was this as bad as it gets?

Fabulous gig by the way. If songs like Mercy are going to be on Songs of Ascent it's going to be some album.....
  11. Only been in Amsterdam, no issues there. But since this is the first thread that has these kind of remarks on the organisation i think its safe to say that other venues are better prepared.

Although there seem to have been some issues in Turin as well.
