Not all people is looking for the same in music. Some people (most people?) just wanna have fun and are not interested in listening to top quality music.
The way I learnt to see it when I complained over and over about it, is that people who loves classic music (as in Mozart, Beethoven or Vivaldi) would say the same things about Shine On You Crazy Diamond or whatever music I love, so I don't really have the right to complain about the pop crowd (or worse, the "banda" crowd and their narcocorridos).
I reckon that objectively you can say that some music has more meaning, more intrinsic quality, and more artistic merit -thus making it "better"- than some other, but there's no point in complaining about whatever other people like to hear... As long as I'm not forced to listen to their crap.
