    I'm sick of that 'popularity' thing. I dont spent MY time here for the amount of hits, i spent MY time to improve the fan site I love.

    what the people administrating u2start don't realize once again is that they are alienating themselves from their providers ... (oh and btw Remy you still avoided the questions i asked earlier ...)

    Popularity is never the goal, it's about what U2 is all about, that's our goal. And that is sharing, even if that includes disrespecting other's wishes. It's the greater good.





    Just my 2 cents, but when you approach something from the its going to be done anyway, so I don't care, you set a really bad precedent. What else is being done, that is wrong or disrespectful, but you can't stop so you will do it anyway? The no accountability for your actions approach is just bad to me. Where does it stop?

    Also, please, you do not speak for the bands wishes. They do not allow taping, despite a quote by Bono 20 years ago that all sites like this like to latch onto. If they catch someone taping they will confiscate the recording. If they were all for sharing everything they would allow taping and/or make official soundboard recordings available of every show. They do not. So they do not really care about whether recordings of their shows are all shared. In fact, you could argue that they don't like them out there period.

    I didn't mean to insult you or disrespect what you do for the site. But you cannot deny the fact that u2start is popular MAINLY for the fact they offer MP3s of shows. The more shows you have the more popular you are, thatz a fact, too.

  8. from what I have read here .... u2start chooses to please the people .... and especially the numbties who otherwise would be paying 25 euro for a bootleg but now can get them for free ...

    for what > ? for eternal gratefulness ... for being remembered as the site that .... ?

    in essence you do not respect the tapers, but you do ban officially released material .. how about the dozens of torrents sites that do spread these ... they will keep doing it no matter what ... does that alter your actions ... nope .... but you only seem to respect U2 and their wishes ... and forget about the tapers .. aaah wait .. not true .... its more like you say you throw them in the water but at least you put some clothes on their backs and shoes on their feet before you actually do so .... still they end up wet ... soaking wet .... so in essence the end result is the same ..... but you seem to think its all ok because of the fact that you do mention their names ....

    I know that it all gets tricky when you have the torrents on one hand with the tapers info .... and the illegally bought bootleg (godfather ie) on teh other hand ... telling you shit all about sources etc .. but giving you the crisp recording ... you do want to spread the illegal bootleg to "stop" them ... and rip the audio and convert it to mp3 ....... but actually, all you do is you create a bigger bunch of people that are in essence true consumers and will never be satisfied, and allways want more .....

    I think that you do show your true colours by saying you dont respect their wishes, for whatever reason ... in the end you have a choice .. and you seem to make it ....

    I am a musician ... and I do not like people that rip audio from my vinyl releases, and spread it on the internet ... even when its effect is that more people will "KNOW" me ..... I want them to know me for my records, and for what I stand for ....

    aah well ... time to stop .... that is my choice ....
  9. I'm sad about this development here. We are all U2 fans right? Maybe it's better for me only to listen to the official released things in the future.

    Well, we're doing that, yes, I confirm. And yes, I did say that, and we're trying to by including as much taper names as possible on our site. Some things we don't do to improve, others we do.

    We even published the info file, so that's pretty easy.

    I don't make money out of it, it costs me money. I never made money out of it, I always lose money. Not a lot, and sometimes I'm even. I do this for the dozens of thank-you messages I get every months from fans who've been to concerts and finally can relive the great experiences they had.
