1. Completely understand, world would be better of without the meddling of Europe and the USA, backing up the position of Israel.

Its soooo hypocrit that we all have nukes but point the finger if another country wants them.

That is right. IF the Iranian government is secretly building bombs, it's because Israel has bombs. Yes, Pakistan and India have some stuff too but they aren't considered active threats...Israel on the other hand...
Kind of makes me wonder if this whole nuclear situation is about world peace or preserving the strength and upper-hand that Israel has in the region right now.
I understand the point that the Iranian government is not considered trustworthy. But can the Israeli government be trusted? They are the ones with a record of preemptive strikes and attacking civilian areas "for the greater good".
You want to keep the world in peace, you get Israel to join the NPT and disarm. Then you can be sure that Iran isn't going after nukes either.
  3. Historically Israel is an extremely aggressive country, Iran is not. I dislike Israel and I think they're committing crimes against humanity on an every day basis. However, I think you could say the Iran government is doing that too, against its own people.

I'm really not very fond of either country. And I really don't like that Israel has nukes. But Israel is at least a democratic country.
  4. Good point.
Altho, keep in mind, Iran is not at all like North Korea or how Myanmar was few years ago. It's not even like Taliban era Afghanistan or Libya under Ghaddafi.
There is much more freedom and prosperity here compared to those countries. It's more similar to China or Russia. Some freedom, but very limited political system and, very little tolerance for opposition. There are many political prisoners and many people have been silenced.

But this said, yes, the government has committed many crimes, specially during the election protests. They are failing in many areas, the two most important ones being foreign policy and economic issues. And this is hurting the people.

BTW. the sanctions on Iran are hurting the people much more than they hurt the government...
  5. I am not very fond of China or Russia either

Yes, I think sanctions seem to be the wrong way to go with your country. I think a better option is to try to "assimilate" Iran by letting it take part in our world.

One I think very true thing that a guy who was on The Daily Show something like a month ago said was that an attack on Iran would kill democratic movements in the country.
  6. I think Breivik is getting way too much time in his trial. They're giving him an arena.

It definitely will kill it. They will have to support the government to show they are against foreign attacks, if they don't support the government they will be marked as traitors who support foreign attackers and prosecuted...sooo...

About Breivik, I agree, he has clearly no remorse over what he has done, the guy cried for his own cause in court...geez, the balls on this guy!!
  8. I wish the maximum time of imprisonment in Norway was longer than 21 years. I don't want Breivik to get out. I doubt he'll change, and after what he's done, he doesn't deserve a second chance
  9. Haven't filled out my voter registration yet. Better get around to it.

  10. Live in Sweden instead. Here everyone eligible automatically gets their voting cards. I am sure that must have some influence on voter turnout.

Not a bad idea. Not enough people here vote to make it worth it though.

On a random note, I find it hilarious that liberals can with a straight face compare voter I.D. laws to Nazi Germany.
  12. Well, I saw some funny stuff with people on Fox who were outraged by saying there's a "war" on women. They said war was a much too serious term. Then they showed clips of Fox saying there was a war on christmas, easter, halloween... It just went on, it ended with with Fox saying there was a war on potatoes.

    But women... No way.
