  11. Heavily debated how many started out legal. Tricky to really do a study on, since most illegal guns have been "sterilized" meaning had the serial number and other identifying features removed.

    Also well not actually related, its interesting to note that once a illegal gun has a few crimes hooked to it, it tends to float around the criminal world, since no one wants it on them if they get busted. Like I said, not really related but fascinating.
  12. I'd guess that most illegal guns were legally manufactured and legally sold at the start of their lives.
