1. As a foreigner I still cannot understand how the unions got the powers they do in the USA.

    Here they just negiotiate sector contracts and they offer some limited help if you have problems with your boss.

    From what I read, there in the US its like the mob with their protection money.

    Technically that is inacurate. The mob is much more cost effective.

    That's for a number of reasons. The main 1 being that well what they did may have been unethical, in most cases it was not actually illegal.

    Did you watch the program? I think it's also cowardice, a failure of the Obama administration. There definitely seems to be some fraudulent stuff there.
