    After all that happened during the last elections, it took a lot of convincing and courage for all of us to go and vote again...but it seems that the whole system has finally decided to abide the people's choice.
    I went to the streets right after I posted here...I had tears in my eyes seeing people so happy...all smiling, dancing, laughing, chanting and congratulating each other. Here are some photos from after the announcement:

    So great to hear this! I'm always very interested in things that happen in Iran, I'd like to visit it one day.

    One of my friends was in Teheran few years ago and he said that he was more impressed by it then by London.


  2. This Marine is awesome. Sticks it to the gov, and has great taste in music. To bad he has to cover his face, or face the possibility of ending up in Leavenworth. yes, its a couple years old, but goes so well with the present scandals.
  3. A Harley biker is riding by a zoo in Georgia when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, all within sight of her horrified parents. The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl as the biker scoops her up and brings her to her grateful parents, who thank him profusely.

    A reporter, watching the whole event, addressies the Harley rider and says, "Sir, that was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life." The Harley rider replies, "Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right." The reporter says, "Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, and tomorrow's paper will have
    this story on the front page. By the way, what do you do for a living, and what
    political affiliation do you have?" The biker replies, "I'm a U.S. Marine and a
    Republican." The journalist leaves.

    The following morning the biker buys the paper to see the news of his actions, and reads the following on the front page:

    "U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS
    AFRICAN IMMIGRANT,
    STEALING HIS LUNCH"

    And, that, folks, that pretty much sums up the mainstream media's approach to the news these days.

    Of course it's always best to wait and see before absolutely judging anything.

    The point, and the reason why people are celebrating is not just the hope of a better future based on the president-elect's promises and rhetoric. The celebrations are also for winning the elections and the message it has. It was a clear win for the moderates and a clear defeat for extreme conservatives.

    Today, even conservative news agencies here are acknowledging that this election had a clear message that people are fed up with hardliner and conservative views, with excessive limitations, with lack of freedom, with the conflict-oriented foreign policy, etc.

    Let's hope things keep going well...

  8. I mean Iran's conservatives, that's quite specific and I believe was obvious from the context.
    Clearly Iran's conservatives are not at all similar to US conservatives, they are called conservative in the context of Iranian politics.
