Ah, but those are the best sci-fi novels.

I'd say that's two sides of the same coin - death threat vs lack of respect is just two different ways to express an intolerance but fair enough.

Hate is only part of the human experience because we let it become so - I'm not denying it, simply trying to find a way to challenge and overcome it. We're animals who've developed the ability to understand our instincts rather than just live them and let them drive our actions (although they may), thus I'd say that gives us the ability to not hate. The fact that we don't (and furthermore don't realise how much it'd probably be better for us in the long run) just makes it all the more galling. By its nature, hate comes through a lack of understanding and tolerance of others, but those are the very things that can overcome it. Again, so galling.

Anyway, here endeth the lesson - unlikely to happen, I grant you, as hate has a strong connection with power and power... oh how humanity does love power.

I get the feeling you see it as a pointless notion, and to some extent, yes, I'd agree, but that doesn't mean one can't try and challenge it. Better out than in, etc.

    1. Nothing is free.
    2. Respect is earned.
    3. If you don't know what you're doing, contact an expert.
    4. Never forgive anyone, especially yourself.
    5. If you can do it on your own, do it on your own. Self-reliance is the way to go.

Honestly, I can run my whole life, based on just those five rules.
  4. "If you are for gun control, then you're not against guns, because the guns will be needed to disarm people. You'll need to go around, pass laws, and shoot people who resist, kick in doors, and throw people in jail, and so on; rip up families, just to take away guns. So it's not that you're anti-gun, because [...] you'll need the police's guns to take away other people's guns, so you're very pro-gun, you just believe that only the government (which is of course so reliable, honest, moral, virtuous, and forward-thinking</sarcasm>) should be allowed to have guns. So there's no such thing as gun control, there's only centralizing gun ownership in the hands of a small political elite and their minions. Gun control is a misnomer." - Stefan Molyneux

Well actually in the UK there are strict gun control laws, and police do not carry firearms either (except in Northern Ireland)....so I think it can be done.
  8. Polling is showing the majority of the English want their guns back now.

I've said it before, if you want to try to confiscate all the guns in the U.S. (without much help, since most cops, and the military are conservative), you are more than welcome to try. It just ain't gonna work that well for you.

Even if that one poll is to be trusted, my point was that gun control without police guns is possible, and you can't deny that.
Honestly I don't care what you do with guns in the US, it's your country, you decide. I'm just giving my opinion on gun control in general.
  10. Actually cops in the U.K do carry guns. Just not to the extent done in other countries(they are limited to certain units), and in most countries with heavy gun control, the cops are still armed. Also if shit gets really bad, the British military can assist on law enforcement matters. This is prohibited in the U.S. under the Posse Comitatus act.
  11. Yes, he told us in advance what he planned to do. Few were listening.
The following is a narrative taken from a 2008 Sunday morning televised "Meet The Press'.
From Sunday's 07 Sept. 2008 11 : 48 : 04 EST, Televised "Meet the Press" THE THEN Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag.
General Bill Gann' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain WHY he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
The General stated to Obama that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171...
During rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Or, at the very least, "Stand and Face It".
    NOW GET THIS !!
    'Senator Obama replied :
"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides". "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression.." "The anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all that sort of thing."

    (ARE YOU READY FOR THIS???)
Obama continued : "The National Anthem should be 'swapped' for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing'. If that were our anthem, then, I might salute it. In my opinion, we should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as 'redesign' our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we, as a Nation of warring people, conduct ourselves like the nations of Islam, where peace prevails - - - perhaps a state or period of mutual accord could exist between our governments ...."
When I become President, I will seek a pact of agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation, have placed upon the nations of Islam, an unfair injustice which is WHY my wife disrespects the Flag and she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past".
"Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put my hatred aside. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path.My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First black Family. Indeed,CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America "
    Yes, you read it right.
