1. After noticing that the current bootleg for this show was only 2-star AND only had certain tracks on it... I decided to convert a lossless, which was uploaded to U2torrents about 2 weeks ago, to lossy. This torrent had no "don't convert to lossy" message in it.

I already uploaded this in lossless in the torrent section here as well: http://www.u2start.com/torrents/details/153/

    The original text file:

U2's first ever concert in South America. During Desire, some local samba percussionists came on stage to perform with U2. Many fans attending the concert arrived late due to a significant traffic jam; before One, Bono thanked fans for their patience.

The wav files were sent to me by U2lemonman who asked me to upload it on U2T. They were transferred from a cassette obtained in 1998. I'm not sure if it's ever been torrented here in the past. There doesn't appear to be much information about the source of this recording. I found covers for two different versions. This show is not listed on Achtungbootlegs and the following comment comes from Justin's website:

'For completists only! How a recording from 1998 -- not exactly the dark ages of recording technology -- can sound so bad is beyond me. The sad thing is that a considerable amout of effort was put into remastering this recording just to get it to sound like it does now. I can't even imagine how bad the original recording is. Remember, when you find a recording of a concert that has taken a long time to surface, don't expect much more than 'average audience'.
The volume on the recording is VERY low and the clarity is poor. I think the best description I can provide is that it sounds like the taper was standing in the parking lot a half mile from the stadium.'

The recording is plagued by small gaps and cuts and a considerable amount of hiss so please listen to the samples before commiting yourself to downloading the whole show.

Hopefully this will fill a few gaps
    ........thanks k, it's finally raining.

I converted it to 192kbps MP3 from FLAC. It is an unknown linage/taper/generation (as said in the info file). I would give it about a 2.5 star rating. Or 3 if you feel generous.
