1. LOL

I'm not saying that I agree, I'm just saying that the band seems to think that.
Check the setlists... the shows used to build up towards Streets, which was the euphoric moment in the show. In other words, there were a couple of foreplay songs, then a couple of really intense songs, and then Streets was the orgasm... then there were a couple of cool down songs to end the main set.

The band has given the orgasm spot in this tour to Beautiful Day (you can make an argument for Pride, but I believe BD is their target). And the crowd reaction to that song seems to be according to that spot.

Streets, this tour, has given the spot One used to have.

    Beautiful Day has replaced Streets.

Most of us (message boards) regard Streets as the ultimate U2 song, the crucial point in every show.
I think for the band and for many people attending the shows, Beautiful Day is as important now as Streets was in the 90's, that is, the main song of the show.

Hey as many people know, I love ATYCLB much much more than everyone else here, but I would go so far as to put Beautiful Day on par with Streets in a live show,

In fact, I might go so far as to say that Beautiful Day is the one song that feels most out of place in the set. The performances have been great, but it just feels out of place in the context of the greater narrative of the show. Beautiful Day --> WOWY is a very jarring change in pace and mood. Adding The Troubles between definitely helps, but it still feels like too cheerful of a song to be put where it is.
  3. I had an ephiphany about my song-suggestion "After the Lobotomy".

Before you move me to the drunk thread, hear me out.
Bono always messes up his lyrics right ?
And he comes to new songs, texts and melody while singing Bongolese right ? Now, make a song named "After the Lobotomy" where Bono basically can save it all up for this 1 song and let his internal beast go and sing whatever his overdone brains and liver come up with after another night of binge-drinking in Southern France. This way we have a total new song every f*cking night, right before we go back to dreamland during Every Boring Wave. Excitement every night and much more variability. Will he release the cockatoo again ? Will it make any sense at all ? What have the Americans done this time ? Is there no Ben but only Canadians ?
Bring your "After the Lobotomy" signs to the shows and make it happen.

    Boom, genius. Thank me later.
    Goodnight.

Ha! mood, pace, leads...we got the detectives working in shifts! Ok, so no streets has not replaced streets. streets is perfect on its own while SGT peppers and/or the goal is soul totally amp up the end of BD. now the spot where BD is of course is terrible...to us. But to the avg concert goer it just becomes a part of the show where the hits pile up and that is all it is there for...Leads!
  5. BelgianBono, I like the cut of your jib.
  6. just put desert of our love into the set, done.
  7. Haha, thank you! I found it in my documents recently, unsure of where it came from, but I knew it would make a great avatar
