  1. Would have been better if Stingray was there / Or maybe a new song no one has heard yet.
  2. Damn it I really want to hear this full version of North Star. It's probably the version that'll be similar to an album version (if it's on the new album, which I'm sure it is).

    Don't quote me on this, but I believe this tour has had the most varied setlists of their careers. Ever since the first leg or so was finished, they've introduced 4-5 brand new songs no one has ever head before (Stingray, Glasto, EBW, North Star, Boy Falls), they've played a few songs they haven't done in decades (Scarlet, Love Rescue Me, Batman, Your Blue Room,), and they continue to switch songs around in the middle of the set. Let's not get too picky for our own good here.

    Too true. I think that's what makes this one of the best tours of their career. Amazing set design, amazing setlists, and amazing performances from the band. It's funny that it is true we're all getting a bit picky. I remember before NLOTH even came out people were hoping to hear songs like Unforgettable Fire and Ultraviolet (I know those 2 were the ones at the top of my list) and they played them! Hell they've brought out (like you said) songs we would have never dreamt of hearing a couple years ago. And now that they have this amazing setlist, we're all saying we want more!!! Can you blame us? They've given us little teasers, that's exactly what they are. We heard minimal versions of North Star and Every Breaking Wave last leg, and we want more of that kind of thing! I wouldn't say it's a bad thing, I think the fanbase is what's pushing U2 to bring out these rarities, and we can't thank them enough for it.
  5. So, we got a standard setlist and awesome vibrations. Predictable thing, isn't it?

    My thoughts:

    I don't like Beautiful Day as an opener. I think it works way better as a "second song".
    Glad they played I Will Follow and Pride in S. Africa.
    Is North Star their favorite new song?
    No Zooropa, Kite and EBTTRT? No surprise then


    Anyway, wish I could have been there

    I prefer the Bono + Edge version, than that full band Zurich soundcheck version.


  7. It's a great opener, gets the crowd going, good choice, even though some fans may be sceptical about them opening with a "classic".

    U2 fans really seem to forget that the band isn't playing for a minority of a few hundred fans who like to hang around message boards and complain about sets because they know each and every set the band has been playing. THANKFULLY they are playing for a big crowd and the majority of the people actually there in concert don't know and don't give a damn about what sets the band have been playing in recent years. People sitting in front of their computer complaining should really get a reality check, it's become so redundant and ridiculous. Most of us aren't there at the show and none of us is actually in the band. In Johannesburg, U2 played for 100.000 people, which is amazing, and OF COURSE they are playing the songs that fit best into this stadium environment. They have said many times that they see no use in playing songs no one wants to hear. They are a damn stadium band and I totally understand their decision to play that particular set - even though I personally might not agree with it. Of course I'd like to hear other songs being played live, but I'm not there in person at these shows.

    That said, I'd still love to hear KITE done live again

    U2 haven't played in SA for many years, of course they are playing their classics. Still, this tour has one of the best (and most varied) setlists they've EVER done.

    I'm sure it was an amzing concert and unforgettable night for people in that great stadium. I wish I could have been there, the atmosphere must have been amazing.



  8. Can people just stop for a second and remember that no one from South Africa has heard Beautiful Day performed live unless they're travelled overseas to see U2.

    Us Aussies never got to experience that awesome version of The Fly (Elevation)

    I have to say, I'm surprised though at the regularity of the first show. Each leg so far has had its own characteristic to it, and besides the opening, this is a 3rd leg show.

    It doesn't have to change too much, just drop only two songs that have grown a little stale and rotate a couple of fresh ones back into it. Here's a crazy idea, how about playing some more NLOTH tracks, given this is it's tour!!





  10. See in my mind it stopped being about No Line at the end of 2009. I don't necessarily like that, but that's the way it is.
  11. I'm wondering if the Get On Your Boots intro is just for Africa? Also, I think it would make more sense to go right into rocking Get On Your Boots as soon as they get on stage?

    It will be just used for Africa.
