  2. I think with The Fly finally emerging and making a HUGE HUGE crowd response (I was at the concert, lucky me!), I think we can pretty much call The Fly confirmed for Glasto.

However, I don't think they will pull out the Achtung Baby 5 right off the bat for the simple reason that I don't think the band will eliminate the One --> Streets segue. Of all the segues into Streets, I feel that leading into it from One is perhaps the most powerful lead-in you can get unless they decide to lead into it from Running To Stand Still.

However, I'm not really sure about the appearance of Pop material anymore. If they come on strong with Achtung Baby material, older Joshua Tree classics, and some of their post-2000 material, they have a very strong setlist right there. This is what I think will happen.

    1. Vertigo
    2. Electric Co.
    3. GOYB
    4. Elevation
    5. UTEOTW
    6. MW
    7. ISHFWILF
    8. Acoustic Song (Stay, Stuck, Staring At The Sun)
    9. Beautiful Day
    10. CoBL
    11. Bad
    12. SBS
    13. Walk On
    14. One
    15. Streets

    16. The Fly
    17. WOWY
    18. 40

I chose Vertigo to open because it's a hard start and jumps right into the action. I was looking at Muse's setlist and they only got 18 songs, so I don't think we can assume that U2 will be gettin 22+. Electric Co. is for the slot reserved for an older song. It could be IWF, but I think Electric Co. rocks harder. GOYB seems to be the best representation of the new album, so I think it will show up. The same can be said of Elevation. UTEOTW has to be there. Why not use such a strong song? I'm actually not sure about MW, since I don't know how it will work with the pyramid stage and this crowd. ISHFWILF is another classic that I think will return. As for the acoustic song, I think any of those three would be really powerful (I'm leaning towards Stay). Beautiful Day and CoBL are there because they are both hits although I think the band may open with the CoBL/Vertigo one-two punch like they did during their Vertigo Tour. Placing Bad on the setlist is gratuitous, to be honest, since we haven't seen it for a while. But then again, the band was first propelled into fame by their stellar performance of Bad during one of their first Live Aid appearances, so they may play Bad as an homage to their early festival appearance. The One-->Streets segue will be used unless Running To Stand Still shows up. The Fly will lead the encore and WOWY followed by 40 will close the night.

  3. So do I because that's as far as I ever get. Best to just stick with UABRS....

..back on topic, any chance of "Gloria" being played? I'm doubtful.
  4. I thought I've read that some people were worried about the fact if the band knows about the bitching and the concerns for U2's Glasto gig.

Well, coincidentely, I just (re)saw some documentaries about the band and in 100% U2, they're actually talking about the forums and everything happening on the internet.
They are aware about it's getting more and more difficult to suprise people because some of the fans (read : we) already know a big part of the setlist in advance.

So, yes, they are probably aware about the criticisms going on on the web.

But I'm pretty confident they'll deal with it
  5. This needs to be bumped. HOORAY

  6. Around the 22h (UK time)... convert it to wherever you are. It's 23h in Spain, for example. Greatest way to spend a Friday evening

    ...

Maybe I am (or all of us are...) living in some "Truman Show"-like world where everybody's watching me/us (including the members of U2) and they'll play my/our perfect setlist(s).

I just woke up. Maybe I shouldn't post now.
