If possible, head out after work on the Wednesday and drive the first four or five hours west....stay at a (relatively inexpensive) hotel off the highway and then finish your drive in the a.m. on the Friday leaving you lots of time to "rest up" for the show.
However, if I go, I'd be leaving the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) at 2pm or so with hopes of getting into Detroit at around 6pm which wouldn't leave me that much time to "chill out" before the show - but, of course, my drive beforehand would be less than half that of yours.
Will you now-fiance/wife-by-then do some of the driving? If so, that'd help for the Thursday morning departure.
She'll be doing some driving but ill do most. I guess its best to leave Wednesday. I just remember last year I worked a tough 10hr day, drove 2 hrs to Philly, lost my mind for 3 hrs while they played and then drove home. That's what making me wanna do it in one day. I feel like I'll be in Detroit by 4 which would give me a good amount of time to unwind.
