1. Discussing U2's new album into the Pearl Jam thread... of a U2 forum.

    Nuts

In comparison, the 360 tour went into a third calendar year but they really weren't playing much from NLOTH in 2011 so it was different in that respect.

2 yrs on Id say no . To me , even now is it still really supporting LB ?

I mean the LP was released over a year ago..and as solid as it is , the way the band tours now , few shows here and there , it just died .

It really makes zero sense how they have toured since 2013 . They released LB , did a bunch of gigs in the US fall of '13..and that was that . 6 gigs in Australia Jan '14... June 2014 Europe..how is that supporting the album ? Has there even been a video since Sirens ??? That was well over a year ago..its as if they gave up on LB…DMB did the same thing with Away From the World in 2013 .

I know they did they same thing for Backspacer , but still .

To me, the first half is catchier and therefore has a bigger initial impact on a guy like me. As I alluded to earlier, it also might not help that I start listening to SOI at track 1 virtually every time.

I should start using the shuffle feature on my iPod.

The whole LP is just brilliant..Raised By Wolves , Cedarwood Rd and The Troubles I love to round out the end of this release….Troubles is too short..the solo is as if its cut..sounds weird to me….cant wait to hear Edge live on this one .

  4. I was quite tempted to go to Hawaii back in 2006..when PJ opened for U2..my Lord what a show !

  5. Well, if I am to be honest, the past two albums might not be great enough to merit a full on world tour.

I'm not too sure if that last statement came out right as PJ is still one of the biggest R&R bands in the world but for many (myself included) I don't get too excited when I listen to songs off Backspacer and Lightning Bolt on the bootlegs (or even at the shows). Sure, they have their moments (well, at least LB does - Pendulum is awesome) but for the most part the crowds seem to be much more into their earlier stuff - and from reading the 10c forums, even the longtime, die hards would rather hear stuff from Binaural and Riot Act over songs like Supersonic and Let The Records Play.
  6. I'm now thinking of the three albums we've enjoyed together over the past few years: King Animal, Lightning Bolt, and Songs of Innocence. What order would you rank them - or is it too soon?

  7. That would have been pretty cool.

I guess Ronnie knows a little something about that pairing.

  8. Yeah I'm going to Europe next year to see U2 and if the timing is right when u2 tour south America I'll be there too. Got no commitments other than work with as many unpaid holidays as I need from now until march 2016
  9. Songs of innocence beats lightning bolt in my opinion.

SOI is brilliant…so I have that first..

    KA is a great album..thats 2nd

LB is good..nothing great , and kinda died a quick death.

As far as diehards wanting to hear the old stuff , thats the way it is with most bands. DMB , U2 , Radiohead , Oasis etc..their best material was their first few albums in most cases . DMB and Pearl Jam especially , as their first 3 releases are by far their best .
