Yes. He does indeed say "Matt" - quite clearly, I might add. I'd be freaking out (in a Truman Show sort of way) if their drummer didn't share the same first name as me!

This said, you know that this performance of "Release" from here on in will be on every compilation I make.

I can't believe it! I almost shit myself. After all you went through with this show, he says your name during Release, of all songs!!. What a classic version.
  5. Well now you've got me over-listening to it....I thought I heard it the first time (after reading your post) but the second time I heard "dad."

Not to belabor this issue but at what time in the song did you hear this?
  6. Oh, just after the three-minute mark.
  7. At the 2:38 mark of this video (the one you posted before), your can hear the "Matt" lyric:

I kind of presume that he'd be looking at their drummer at the time.

    He isn't.

    Last verse.

I'm telling u dude it's weird. It was a holy shit moment when I heard it. Pretty weird considering the whole situation. And has he ever said Matt during Release?

    Matt??
  10. Ha. Ha. I don't know and doubt that I'll be taking the time to find out.

The song's been played 153 times over the band's lifetime and although I probably have about half of those performances (and almost all with Matt Cameron being their drummer) I don't think I want to listen to all of them anytime soon.
  11. One last thing about the "Oh dear, Matt" lyric during the last verse of Release in Detroit...this guy was in the audience:

    His name? Matt LUKIN!

    Crank your stereo up!
  12. Wow.

DRIVE DOWN THE STREET CAN'T FIND THE KEYS TO MY OWN FUCKING HOME.
