to have an overview of their production till 2002 go with Rearviewmirror (greatest hits), even if i "hate" greatest hits but it's a problem of mine

otherwise one of the first 3 is a good choice .. Ten - Vs - Vitalogy

Lol......so true...I blasted the Pitt (09.05.00) gig this morning at the gym.....show kicks off with Even Flow...how this show didn't have the ape/man tag is shocking to me. Stone must have forgot this gig......that's way I judge shows myself......

Rearviewmirror is one of the greatest Greatest Hits out there. However, it's still missing some classics (i.e., my favourites) like Porch, Release, Indifference, Last Exit, Long Road, Sometimes, In My Tree, Present Tense, Faithfull, Brain of J, MFC, In Hiding, and Insignificance - amongst others, I suppose. If you simply end up going with this collection, I recommend you hunt these ones down, too.

Matt,here is another of my mad N.American Tour mixes......this one contains the 4 great shows in September 2000....Philly (Camden,NJ) 09.01& 09.02,Washington D.C. 09.04,Pitt (a top 5 gig IMO) 09.05.....all 4 were NOT listed as ape/man gigs by the band,..thats strange because they are all fantastic.....IMO these 4 are all MUSY HAVE GIGS...

1) Sometimes - 09.01 Philly...a solid tune to open any gig with...I like it so much more live, than the muddy-mumbled studio version from No Code.
2) Hail Hail - 09.05 Pitt... great version from a great rockin gig..love it...No Code....classic
3) Breakerfall - 09.02 Philly..good rockin tune,solid version here...
4) State Of Love And Trust - 09.02 Philly..great version..second only to the Detroit version from 10.07.00
5) Greivance - 09.04 D.C.....great version of this rockin tune...
6) Red Mosquito - 09.01 Philly....love this version (with Chicago 10.09)....only version better is from Praha 06.14.00...No Code..
7) Dissident - 09.04 D.C. ....I have always been a fan of thos tune..solid version here...
8) In My Tree - 09.04 Pitt...love this version..great song..way better live than the studio ..another one from No Code Mat.....

I think I'm going to get a few shows off pearljambootlegs.org. What shows are must have? Atlanta 1994 is one I've seen mentioned a few times.

Oh, God....Here we go.

Go a few posts back and you'll see Ed's list of 18 "must have" gigs - and these are just from the two North American legs of the 2000 tour!!!!! The thing is, he's probably right. The 2000 tour is full of classics. However....

I like the two London shows from 2000 - and the two Italy shows form that same year are good. The sound level on these first-leg shows is a bit lowe than that of the later two North American legs. Seattle N2 from 2000 (last show of the tour) is quite popular - although maybe overrated. However, this was the only time in NA that "Alive" was played. Once again, take your pick from Ed's list - he knows best.

The two MSG and three Boston shows from 2003 are generally deemed as classics as well. I actually like the three Mexico shows from that tour better.

Lots of great shows from 2006 but I think the five Italy shows rule them all.

If you can get more recent shows, the two 2010 MSG shows are fantastic. As for 2011, I am a bit bias but the Toronto N1 show (available for free download - at least it was a while back) is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - as is the N2 show.
