  3. I like that PJ are planning to try new things. I feel they've been "forcing it" with some of their more-recent songs like "Comotose" and "Ole." Those songs just don't suit them anymore.

    For the record: I do love rockers like "Spin The Black Circle" and "Brain of J."

    I agree..Ole is weak......but I do like most of Backspacer....
  6. I think Backspacer is a pretty solid album. It doesn't have anything on it that sounds forced. With "Avocado" I found they were trying to write a "mature" record but had too many slip ups. They, fortunately, succeeded with Backspacer.

    I think you should listen to No Code a few times before getting into the live versions of the songs if only for "contrast" purposes. It does have some classics on it (Sometimes, Hail Hail, In My Tree, Off He Goes, and Present Tense come to mind) that sound okay in the studio and then really come to life on the stage. There are many great versions of all/most of the songs from No Code out there, be it from the later remaster series shows (Berlin 1996 is a good bet) and also the songs scattered throughout the official bootleg series shows.

  10. I haven't read too many rock band books (just a few on The Beatles, and one each on U2, Led Zep, and Cobain) but this sound interesting. I may do some more research on it and maybe give it a try.
  11. You should pick up the PJ20 book....it really is an interesting read,its similar to the Beatles Anthology book,direct quotes from the band...
  12. I've seen it in stores. It'd be an interesting read - although I'd have to take constant teasng from my wife for reading. It'd be deserved, however, as I frequently make fun of all the crap she reads.
