Well, we all enjoy the band so that's really all that matters. However, you two (Ed and Ron) have "lived it" so I wouldn't put the "nerd" label on either of you. Conversely, I'm experiencing the shows (aside from the two attended) via computer and have been meticulously been studying their setlists - even looking for some patterns (non-randomness) in them. Maybe I could create an algorithm that will allow me to predict a PJ set on any given night - kind of like SABERmetrics in baseball. (Unfortunately, this nerd isn't that smart).

All this self-loathing/deprecation is very 1990's grunge, isn't it?

    definetely it is hehe

i guess that even the most mega-perfect algorithm wouldn't give you 100% to withdraw your money bet hehe
  2. Do the bookies in Las Vegas or Monte Carlo put odds on the songs that Pearl Jam plays at there shows?

I suppose betting on Even Flow or Alive wouldn't really be gambling.
  3. those and Better Man are usually put off by bookmakers hehe
  4. Only "2 shows" in the US in 2012 ?

I would be shocked if we dont see a fall tour, maybe 10 shows, in the Northeast...
  5. Aren't PJ due to play the west coast? They haven't been there since 2009.
  6. It would be nice if they did a proper tour, say 20-30 dates in the US...early Sept-end of Oct...we will see...they have to play Seattle...
  7. ...and San Fran...and LA...and San Diego...and Vegas...and Phoenix (well, they may avoid the State of Arizona for a while).
  8. So I've been listening to these guys quite seriously for about a year now (was a pretty big fan before but things have changed considerably over the last 365 days or so) and thought I'd add a few thoughts...

Classics songs that are out-of-this-world since hearing live more and more live versions of them:
Alive, Porch, Daughter, RVM, Better Man, Corduroy, Not For You, In My Tree, etc, etc, etc,

Songs that I now consider PJ gems that I only thought of as good one year ago:
Release, Nothingman, Long Road, Off He Goes, Present Tense, and Unthought Known

Songs that I now consider really good songs that I didn't like all that much one year ago:
Deep, Why Go, Blood, Lukin, Red Mosquito, Low Light, and Grievance

Songs that I'd never really heard/paid attention to one year ago that I wish I has sooner:
Down, Sad, Can't Keep, Parting Ways, and Wash

Songs that I didn't really like one year ago that I still don't like:
Bugs, Pilate, Evacuation, Big Wave, and Unemployable

Songs I liked a year ago that I like less now:
WMA and Who You Are (because they a (virtually) never played live)
  9. Great thoughts Matt...I actually like Pilate live

I saw WMA and Who You Are in 2008..June 24 and 25,MSG..I was never a fan of them until hearing them live.....I always felt WMA was too much to the left..lets criticize the cops, bla bla bla because they are always wrong..(like 41 shots) we have to find fault with something right lol.....anyway...good tune though...
  10. Listening to Bonnaroo (06.14.08) by the way...great gig.....
  11. Matt..are you done with 2003 ? ...Im thinking of listing that Mansfield 03 mix soon..or do you want to move on to say..the Canadian 05 tour ?????
  12. I am putting the finishing touches on my 2003 mix. I think all the songs have been chosen (the same 74 I listed last week but a few "locations" and position changed). I just have to make sure the transitions between the songs are near-flawless - can't have any abrupt segues. I'll upload and post in the near future.

I am also nearly done a 2006 North American mix - four CD's as well.

I will be happy to (eventually) look at the 2005 Canadian tour but as I said before, I am miffed that they didnt play "Once" once (ha) on the tour. It's an essential tune that I'd prefer to be included in every mix.
