  1. Are you just speculating with the No Code remaster or has an actual statement been issued?

    I had a feeling that they might do a No Code/Yield combo - if only because that's what they did for Vs and Vitalogy. I suppose one might argue that there wasn't a clear "break" between the two V-titled albums but there definitely was one in 1997.

    Do you need a copy of or a link for the Vegas show?

Day 2 of listening to the Halifax gig.....I have to say,I love this show......Hard to Imagine opens,nice version,albeit a bit shaky in spots..but a nice change as far as an opening tune.....rocking version of Animal follows. Ed's voice really sounds strong at this gig...and he is very into it,VERY talkative and encouraging the crowd all night....

    LBC has a different,slow opening.Sounds good here,compared to the mess that it was in St Johns 2 nights later.

    Dissident and SOLAT are great,and keepers for a mix...

    "So this is Halifax to the max,this is the time and place to do this." Breath is played,and sounds very good,despite Ed's vocal slip during the first verse.I think its in the same spot,where he messed up Breath in Philly,09.01.00.A slight delay by Mike, before the solo,sounds a little off.Still, a welcomed addition to the set.This is the only performance of Breath during the Canadian '05 Tour.So,its obviously a keeper version.

    Nice 4 min speech by Ed before Small Town.Talking about the band,cows,sheep and stuff...lol.....the best line about small towns.."...but their's also bad things about small towns as well...it makes you want to get the fuck out." Thats classic...

    Really rockin version of NFY.Ed screaming his head off, with the Modern Girl tag at the end,which,IMO,is mandatory.Jeremy follows (combined,one download with NFY) and as usual,is mega.The crowd is very into it,and singing along.Ed is feeding off them,and you can feel how worked up he is getting ,during the "Wooooo,woooo oh ".then the "Ah,Ah Ah" parts towards the ending..I can just see him losing it during this spot..and love when he's this into it...

    A very loud,intense version of Blood ends the main set.... Atomic Dog tag is there as well...so its a keeper.

    Encore review to follow in a bit....and this encore,by the way..is GREAT !!!

  4. I agree with the "Modern Girl" tag being "required" at the end of Not For You. I was very pleased to hear it last September at the show I attended along with the "Save It For Later" and "It's Okay" tags at the Better Man and Daugher, repsectively.

    As soon as I get a round to finishing the Montreal 2000 gig - I just haven't been able to get any "alone time" the past two days - I will get on some (all) of those 2005 shows.
  5. i'd suggest the Daughter tag "hey ho lets go! hey ho milano - we don't need education .. " Milano '06 .. but maybe it's better not cause of president Bush leave this world alone insert hehe
    "tutto ok tutto ok" in Bologna same year is good as well

    i recognize "it's ok" it's more classic though hehe

    Hhahahaha....Its Ok from Wembley 05.29.2000 is a top version for me..
  7. The Encores from Halifax,09.22.05 are just great.And long.You need 2 cd's for just the encores.Ed is in such a fantastic mood.Most of the Canadian 05 encores,started with a short acoustic set.The band would sit down,and break out the acoustics.

    Ed asks the crowd for a Keiths (local Hailifax Ale)."Somebody get me a Keiths.Someone hands him a Heineken."Heineken ? Fuck that shit,get me a Keiths !!!" Great stuff.

    The band proceed to play Low Light,Off He Goes and Nothingman.All are perfect versions.Ed's vocals sound great,as well as the background vocals (is that Matt backin on Low Light ? or Jeff ?) Off He Goes is amazing,a top version.Soon after, Ed starts asking again for a Keiths."What kind of pool do we have in this Goddamned town ? I said fuck Heineken,get me a Keiths !!"...classic stuff.He keeps it up.Asking the crowd to go get him some.He then gets serious,and Nothingman is played to perfection.

    The band shed the acoustics,and bang out Glorified G and RVM.Both,sound great.(Slight flub during G,but so what..its live right ?) An intense version of RVM ends the first encore.At 9 min,its a bit much,but very rocking.

    Encore 2 is a classic.Ed comes out,thanks the crowd,but is still asking for a Keiths Ale.Funny stuff here."We are gonna play 2 more songs.But,if someone would just get us a Goddamned Keiths,we will play all night." and continuing "If its the worst beer we've ever had,then your all in big fucking trouble." Ed goes on making jokes,and saying more about Keiths Ale.

    Mike mentions his red shirt,it says Crohn"s and Colitis Foundation of Canada.Mike has this disease,and a bunch of kids from the local hospital ,who have the disease,are there.Ed says "this is for the kids"..a great version of Alive is then played...great moment.

    As Ed is introducing Down,he is FINALLY handed a Keith's Ale."It says 8 pack,what the fuck is that.We must be in Canada".He proceeds to down the beer,and the crowd love it,and chant "Chug chug chug".."

    Down goes right into In My Tree.A solid,slow burning version here,with Boom's keys standing out.Love this tune. "I got my Keith's,were not going anywhere,bring me more!!!."

    A very short version of Daughter is played (only 3 min ?),similar to the studio version Id say.It just,slowly fades,then Ed starts Betterman.Crowd are all over it..sounds great.

    'Well,we'd love to play more for you.But,thank you.Good night ." Ed pretends to leave.Comes back,and starts going on about wanting more Keith's Ale again."It comes in an 8 pack,so where's the other 7 ?" Too funny....A short (4 min),funky version of Porch is played.Im not a fan of the 9-10 min versions of RVM and Porch.Id take a solid 5 min version of both tunes.

    "Our strategy has now switched.We are now going to keep playing,UNTIL we get some Keith's." Ed introduces Bushleaguer saying "this song is about an asshole." I have to admit,first time I heard him say that, I spit my coffee out from laughing.

    Fortunate Son is played,then RITFW end's the show,with Sleater-Kinney sharing vocals on both tunes.The place going WILD.

    5 Stars.

    Standout tunes Dissident,Breath,NFY,Jeremy,Nothingman,Alive,In My Tree

    Im very big on this gig.A personal favorite of mine.IMO,its one of the best the band played in Canada, during the 2005 tour.Ed having tons and tons of fun,joking with the crowd, great tunes,a classic encore = MUST HAVE PJ BOOTLEG.

    I love the Bologna 2006 version - included in my "Italian Job" as Ronnie so poetically put it.
  9. ...if we were to start somewhere, Daughter is as good as a place as any (although some might argue we should start with Once)...

    The top five post-2000 performances of Daughter that come to mind all (must) have the "It's Okay" tag (in one language or another). In ascending order they are:

    5. May 20, 2006 (Cleveland) - it's on my 2006 mix
    4. Sept 11, 2011 (Toronto) - great version; probably some bias here
    3. Sept 14, 2006 (Bologna) - I love the "tuttu ok" part
    2. Sept 17, 2011 (Winnipeg) - has both WMA and It's Okay tags
    1. Aug 3, 2000 (Virginia Beach) - in my mind, no rationale is necessary

    Daughter is a great song but after nearly two decades of listening to the main body of the song, it's now the tags that make it for me. A similar case can (and will) be made for Better Man.

    I should also add that there may be better versions out there - I just haven't heard them yet. Please let me know!
  10. Keping track of your 2005 Canadian reviews, Ed. So far:
    Toronto, St. John's (N1), Vancouver, and Halifax?

    I will begin 2005 tomorrow. Planning to start with Toronto. On paper, it looks like a show that a somewhat casual fan would fall in love with (like me a little over a year ago): Opens with Release plus the "Big Four" from Ten spread out through the set; all the essentials (and more) from Vs (seven songs in all); the two "gods" of Vitalogy (Better Man and Corduroy); the main three from Yield (Given to Fly, Wishlist, and Evolution); a cover of Neil Young's Havest Moon; and close with YLB - plus more!

    Now...let's find out how it sounds.

    that list is very good Matt as also the Wembley 00 suggested by Ed is outstanding and have to be in a sort of ballot hehe

    i'd add also Jones Beach N2, that is also in Touring band 2000 dvd .. and Virgina Beach 00 first after Roskilde .. it's ok very very touching

    a good list now to select the "winner" hehe .. if some others don't come in mind
