1. Ottawa..09.16.05....this is a really fantastic gig...30 tunes are played,close to 3 hrs.This show starts off with Wash..and it is a fantastic version.The next 5 songs are just rockin,slammed one by one,into the crowd....Go,Hail Hail,Animal,Brain Of J and Corduroy....

Brain Of J sounds great, and IMO,the band should bring it out more often.

The band slow things down with Immortality.I always love to hear this one,and it is played early in the set,in the 7th slot.Solid version.

Really good version of In Hiding. It was only perfomed 2 times (Winnipeg) during the Canadian 05 Tour, nice to hear some Yeild tunes.

First ever performance of Dont Gimmie No Lip,Stone actually does a good job....Very rockin version of Even Flow..Mike going off here..Ed chats up the crowd for a few, mentions about how great it is to have done only Canadian dates...funny story about the roads, highways in Canada..."ka-chunk,ka-chunk,ka-chunk,we are on a bus,and it feels like we are on a train.."..Ed suggests "Hailburton would be happy to fix the problem"..lol..nice lead in for Green Disease.

How about these 5 classic's to close the set....I Got Id,Jeremy,Black,Betterman and RVM.......that, is an epic run...

I Got Shit is great...Jeremy as well,(I prefer the Halifax version).Black is fantastic.Crowd just love it.They sing the do do do do... do do do,with Mike doing riffs, and Ed sings..... just sounds brilliant.Top,top version.I think I prefer Montreal from the night before (my gig)..that just might change....

Betterman is perfect, great Save It For Later tag...Ed really singing it here...RVM is rockin..just too long (9.41)..

    Encore review in a few...

    Matt..as a Canadian..you will simply adore these shows ....
  2. Well, I've started with Toronto and was thinking of either Montreal or Ottawa next. Still want to go through the T.O. show one more time, however.

I have to admit, I really wish I attended that 2005 show (even more so than Night 2 last fall!) The setlist and performance of these songs would have hooked me back then for sure (and as a result I would have attended at least one of the 2006 shows as well as the one in 2009). Oh well, hopefully I can catch them a bunch of times in the years to come.
  3. That Toronto gig in 2005 is a great one, and for the U2/PJ fan ?..that would have been amazing, only topped by the great combo gig in Hawaii ..Dec 9th 2006....
  4. The worst part of it all is that I saw Coldplay at Darien Lake that same summer!

Excuse my language but what the fuck was wrong with me!?!?!?!!?!?
  5. Holy shit (sorry, my second use of foul language in as many posts) - "A Sort of Homecoming" leading into "Small Town" - I missed that the first time around.

    Absolutely awesome!

I don't know if I'd put the version in my "top 10" but it's interesting hearing the U2 tags (Yahweh and Bad) at the end of "Daughter."
  6. Ottawa '05 encore is very solid. An acoustic sit down to start.A good version of Bee Girl opens. An acoustic version of I Believe In Miracles follows.Sleight Of Hand is played after, its a bit shaky..a shame,as I love that tune.Small Town wraps up the acoustic set.

Crazy Mary is the standout of encore 1.Its Mikes spotlight here,he delivers a master solo...Mike and Boom then duel on the Stairway solo...clocking in at 10 min, feels more like 3 min..just flows.....its an epic, must have version... a keeper.. to say the least .

Alive closes encore 1,in a wild, loud raucous version.Crowd cant get enough.

Encore 2 starts with a solid version of Given To Fly....rockin version of NFY follows, going into Daughter..once again its short...Im just used to the long jamming versions from '00 and '03 I guess, cause I dont really care for these short versions.

Harvest Moon..this was one of the best covers the band picked to play on this tour.Sounds great.Montreal has the best Harvest Moon IMO.

Leaving Here,RITFW then fantastic Yellow Led finishes up...

    5 stars.

This was really a great sounding show...must have gig no question....

Standout tunes Wash,I Got Id,Black,Betterman,Crazy Mary and Yellow Led ....

    LOL....a great great gig...

  8. honestly i haven't checked there .. i got it from the guy of pearljamonline.it site .. he's very reliable for what concerns PJ and related things .. he also wrote a very good book about them "Pearl Jam Evolution"
  9. I've never read a PJ book. I think that's something I should do.
  10. Pearl Jam Twenty is a quite good way to start
  11. That one looks big. Difficult to carry around.

    But you're right.
