    I finally got around to listening to this morning (in between Candain 2005 shows). It sounds great and I don't really mind the absence of Alive, Even Flow, and Jeremy (and Porch, too). It's nice to have a show that focuses on Vs and Vitalogy - although the omission of Animal creates a bit of a gap.

    Just realized that Better Man wasn't played either. Definitely a show that may have left some "posers" dissappointed.
  4. Matt,when you can,you have tol isten to the 4 Oct shows from 2000,that I have mentioned and raved about many times...Det,East Troy,Chi and St Louis..that 4 gig run is hard to top....
  5. Todays Canadian '05 gig of the day....London On,09.12.05....

    This gig opens with a solid version of Oceans.I love this tune,and as I mentioned when it was played in Calgary,it simply just isnt played enough.Rockin' versions of Breakerfall,Corduroy,Hail Hail and Animal follow.Glrofied G is played,and sounds very good.'Already its so much better than those assholes were in Kitchener"..haha..that was good I have to say...

    The surprise tune for the night, is the obscure b side Black Red Yellow.This song had only been played 5 times at the time of this show,2005.The band waited another 5 years,before I heard this one live,performance 6, at MSG,05.21.10.Good tune,and as Ed says "this is for the serious collectors".Indeed.I remember downloading this gig,in a near frenzy when I saw it on the setlist.

    A great version of In My Tree follows,the same can be said for Betterman.The band sound tight,and Ed is singing very well.You Are,a song I have always liked,is played,and jammed well.The song has a good groove,and fits well in the set.NFY is rocked out,with Ed screaming his head off,and the band in a flawless jam.Ed adds some different words,ad- libbing...."a life without you...if not for you"..sounds great,I have no clue if its a tag,or just Ed.Keeper version.

    Jeremy is next,and is brilliant.Perfect version.Band sound very tight.Crowd sing along,Ed is into it..getting all caught up with the moment...

    After solid versions of Wishlist and Even Flow (wild solo by Mike),a cover by the Dead Kennedys,Bleed For Me, is busted out.Good tune.Ed of course,has to make an angry bitter comment after.."thats what it feels like to live in the United States these days." ..... I just shake my head at his acrimony towards America........

    A long,very hard angry rockin version of RVM ends the set......

  7. Listening to Yield. Liking it. Definitely beats my first listen to No Code.
  8. Yield is a little more like the first three albums - especially Vitalogy - than No Code. Lots of variety of sounds but not too "experimental."

    It might not matter nowadays but "Given to Fly" was a WAY better lead single than "Who You Are." I appreciate that PJ was trying to break new ground (and maybe even get rid of casual fans - it worked!) but it just didn't cut it for me. Until recently, I only liked particular songs off No Code but not the whole album.

    I've always liked Yield - a lot.
  9. Very true Matt.Given To Fly is a PJ Classic..I love it..and I thought it was good when I first heard the studio version in '98....but live ?..forget it...a monster of a tune...I love when Ed goes all out singing it.....

  12. As I prepare to listen to some 2009 shows in the near future, are there any mandatory listens (i.e., Ed-Man) gigs aside from the four in LA and the four in Philly?

    I have Toronto and Vancouver (obviously) and Ed, you had mentioned a couple in Australia. I suppose Seattle and maybe even Chicago shouldn't be overlooked. What about London?

    I would like to enjoy a bunch - but maybe not ALL of them at this time.
