1. I got an iPad through work this past week and just downloaded the PJ Stat Tracker app. It's kind of interesting.

Ironically enough, I am NOT using this new gadget to type this post.
  2. Ahh, an iPad, awesome. Have one too.
  3. Just discovered Pearl Jam radio - it's on the app I got yesterday. Listening to a 1996 concert from Buffalo.

I've got a mix in mind.

    I'll asnwer my own post:

According to the PJ stat tracker, no "It's Okay" in Austrailia - ever!

  7. Ok.sorry for the delay...back to my review of Montreal,09.15.05...the Encores...

    Encore 1

The acoustic set opens,as is the norm on this great Canadian tour.Ed plays a cover of Cat Stevens tune Trouble..not bad, something different..this tune has been covered only 3 times by PJ (03.03.98,09.15.05 and 08.02.07),so this is rare and an interesting tune.Nice version of Man Of The Hour follows. After Last Kiss we have a fantastic version of Harvest Moon. Its up there with the version from Hamilton, but I will go with this version, since Im biased,as I was at this show.I remember looking around as Ed played this, and everyone just listened to the words and music,it was perfect.A keeper,no question.Crazy Mary and a very rockin Alive close encore 1.

Encore 2 opens with some rocking tunes..Whipping (lyric mistakes),Down and a crushing version of Blood.

But,IMO,this encore is about one song...Black.My favorite PJ tune, since I saw the band perform this classic on MTV Unplugged 20 long years ago.....The crowd sing along so loud on this....Black,in all its glory....Ed,eating it up on stage, with his eyes closed, cluthing the mic and its stand..amazing moment for me....Mike goes off on his solo.....its a top 5 version IMO,the best version from this tour (along with Ottawa 09.16.05)....Black,along with a couple of tunes in the main set (Release,GTF,In My Tree,Lukin,Porch),made this trip for me special..I still remember a sigh of refief,as the band started this clasic song.....musically,it isnt perfect..Matt seems off on a couple of rolls...but the crowd were amazing..the energy was all there...."do do do do..do do do"..went on and on from the audience, followed by We Belong Together tag.......loved it...

Solid versions of Baba and Yellow Led end it...Matts timing is all off on Yellow Led....not his best night IMO...

    4 Stars

I had a great time at this gig...a couple of my favorite tunes were played,GTF,IMT,Lukin,Blood and Black..but looking back, the main set could have been alot better, and whenever the band got something going,a non classic would follow...Miricles,Light Years,Grievance,Sad,was a rough patch in the show, an ok version of GTF picked things up,only to be letdown by LBC.Betterman-Porch was epic....an uneven main set, saved by a very solid encore...

Standout tunes....Release,Animal,Betterman-Porch run is fantastic..Trouble,Harvest Moon, intense version of Blood and of course an EPIC version of Black, are my picks from this gig....
  8. Ed...glad you're back. Not to remind you about it but I was concerned you went into a "bad place" after the NYR loss.

Nice review. Will add to the achrive.

I was listening to Saskatoon 2005 this weekend. Not a bad little gig.

    Plan to do Winnipeg next.
  9. It was brutal....it did go into lost zone for a couple of days........great reg season....but,that means nothing in the playoffs..this one will sting for awhile...
  10. Plus,Im in a "DMB Zone" right now....when it gets warm out,you know its summer..and that means DMB are hitting the road from May-Sept,as they have EVERY year since 1992...except last year..wehn they did a multi stop Caravan...

A wild June...DMB and PJ time....
  11. Your June seems a lot more enjoyable than mine - I get to mark exams!.

...at least there's Radiohead for me on the 16th.

I'll also have to decide what PJ tour to listen to next...2009, I suppose. I still haven't taken the time to listen to the version of Hunger Strike where Cornell joins them on stage.
  12. Ed...more 2005 reviews please.

    I know...I know...DMB.
