1. I agree with you Sergio, I really do. You know I am a big fan of the "war horse." I just listen to too many PJ bootlegs and find myself "tuning out" or even pressing the "skip" button when these songs come on. It's a completely different experience when you are at the show.

Note: PJ's "Breath" is, as a matter of fact, rarely played. It's a great song that using gets performed only a couple of times during each tour.
  2. I agree Matt..I wouldnt be upset at all if PJ didnt close with Alive and Yellow Ledbetter (as they do all the time)...its old already..play Alive EARLY IN THE SET,as they did in 2003,same goes for RVM..it does get stale as a "diehard",Im there for all their music, not just the hits.

I would rather hear Breath over Alive any day. But,that is me.

I guess EV feels they need to play Alive and the Fixer at each and every gig, even N2 in the same city.Seems odd to me.Why not play Black, Jeremy or Daughter instead of say,the Fixer, twice in the same city ? The Fixer is old at this point in time.

DMB never play an old "hit" each and every night.Ants Marching is a song most people identify the band with, there have been 2 nights stands where they wont play it,cause Dave doesnt "feel it". That is fine by me.

As far as U2,they have always played a safe, standard setlist, same tunes, each and every night. All you have to do is look at the 2 shows from Denmark 2010,same exact gig, each night, sans 1 SONG (UV).Thats ridiculous IMO.

Did WOWY and MOS really have to close like 99% of every gig over 3 summers ?? Did Love Is Blindess have to close all 10 shows I attended in 1992 ??? Again, its lazy IMO...and they have always done this,so I accept it...

Montreal N1,N2 2011, I was shocked to have actually heard 5 or 6 different tunes over the 2 night stand. But it was still, basically the same set N1.

PJ,Bruce and DMB would never do that.Thats why they are way better live,as far as variation, IMO,than U2.And are worth seein multiple times during 1 tour.

2 shows in Milan .. Vertigo tour .. photocopies .. and i got 4, i mean 4, Vertigo in 2 consecutive nights!! hehe .. don't think every songs could be considered warhorse

anyway the warhorse is an understandable point of view, not mine
different approach to a concert i guess .. when i go to a show i go to listen to a band playing not to listen to some songs played by a band .. then i "judge" what they've given not what they've not
and this for every band causal or diehard fan i can be of

maybe he meant Just Breathe .. if not to Sergio
  5. I meant Breath, it's one of my favorite PJ songs. I just didn't know it didn't belong to the warhorses I'm not that proficient when it comes to PJ live, still got a lot to learn and listen!

An earlier position for "Alive" and "YLB" would definitely be a nice change. Admittedly, there have been times when I listen to a PJ bootleg, see that they are about to play Alive, RITFW, and YLB to close (again!) and just end it after the fourth last song.

I would rather hear Breath over Alive any day. But,that is me.

Tough call for me. I think "Alive's" positioning is the main downer for me. However, "Breath" is a classic that should get a little more attention.

I hope they lessen the number of times they play "The Fixer" during the next tour (to pormote their new album - over three, if not four, continents) before it enters "Got Some" territory for me.

DMB never play an old "hit" each and every night.Ants Marching is a song most people identify the band with, there have been 2 nights stands where they wont play it,cause Dave doesnt "feel it". That is fine by me.
I still have to listen to the 2010 NYC show a second time!

As far as U2,they have always played a safe, standard setlist, same tunes, each and every night. All you have to do is look at the 2 shows from Denmark 2010,same exact gig, each night, sans 1 SONG (UV).Thats ridiculous IMO.

Ridiculous and a bit lazy, indeed.
I can't believe you saw TEN shows in 1992!!!!

Montreal N1,N2 2011, I was shocked to have actually heard 5 or 6 different tunes over the 2 night stand. But it was still, basically the same set N1.
Two classic shows. I wish we had a good audio version of N1.

PJ,Bruce and DMB would never do that.Thats why they are way better live,as far as variation, IMO,than U2.And are worth seein multiple times during 1 tour.

I must remember this the next time PJ does back-to-back shows in T.O.

"Breath" is a classic PJ song. Check out one of their Camdem 2000 shows (the only time the song was played out of about 70 shows!) at pearljambootlegs.org (legal!) where Eddie introduces the song something along the lines,"OK fuckers, we'll give it a try."

    Classic.
  8. I must remember this the next time PJ does back-to-back shows in T.O.

PJ,are really a band where it is 'worth it" to see them 2 times same tour,a no brainer in the same city Matt.U2 on the other hand, arent.

I was lucky in my youth Matt, lol.I saw the band so many times from 1985-1987 (I saw them 16 times in 2 years!!!)...and that # would have been higher if they toured the US in '89 (Lovetown).I waited 5 years, from 1987 - 1992 to see them,so I went off in 1992 !!!

In 1993 they didnt tour here again ( Zooropa)..for some reason, they blew us off.I went 5 years, 1992-1997,without seeing them, because they didnt tour here.Pop was released, and I only went once, compared to 10 times in '87 and 10 again '92.Obviously,my interest in them was very low by 1997 really.I was an Oasis,Radiohead,Blur,DMB and of course,PJ nut by then.
  9. Yes. Keep on me. Don't let me cave or get lazy and only go once again. I may need you to write a letter to my wife, however.
  10. HAHAHA...tell your wife its a night she doesnt have to hear PJ at home.....thats what my wife says ...lol
  11. I have been listening to the (2012) Arras show over the past day. I think it's a pretty solid little show. Lots of classic tunes were played (including, ironically enough, "Alive" and "YLB" to close) and played quite well. It's definitely better than the Werchter show, that's for sure. Probably the best of the three festival shows.

    Prague is next!
  12. Im still listening to Dam 2,amazing gig......and the free stream of DMB Away From The World (released tomorrow..woo hoo) on iTunes....

Festival gigs are what they are Matt..I thought PJs performance at the IOW was good, the weekend was great,Elbow and Madness were great,as was the Chief ............and The Boss of course as usual, stole the weekend, and was amazing...
