    i guess it isn't an affiliate site but it is a legimate thing .. there are others sites/blogs that shares the 2000-2006 bootlegs, like presenttense blog, for example, which link i took from the ten club forum and i don't think they allow illegal just in there.
    also in the pearl jam page of T.U.B.E. there all the 2005 mp3s and they say ..
    They are no longer being sold at their site and can be shared with approval from the band
    T.U.B.E. never allow sharing official/ilegal stuff

    I like the look of this presenttenseboots site...everything on one page...cover art presented...I'll be book marking this one...and there have been some connection problems with pearljambootlegs of late,,,(although you can download individual songs there).

  7. Yeah, that's what I meant. I think some do but others don't...I do think they are interesting pics, however.

    Here's a PJ comment. Back in 1996, when No Code came out, PJ were still huge even though grunge going out of style. I've always thought "Who You Are" was not the best choice for a lead single...kind of killed their momentum a little bit. Maybe should have been somehting like "In My Tree."

  8. i find Who you are a very lovely song but probably you're right not the right choice for the first single of the album in terms of "market penetration" (what is the common purpose of a lead single), but i don't think In my tree could be a better one even if it's the best song of the album; not an "easy" song though.
    probably for the purpose of a lead single it would have been better to put out Hail hail as first one.
    but they weren't much for the common marketing strategy at that time .. 3 albums without any music videos of any songs for example ...

  9. True. The move to release "Who You Are" was probably not a mistake unlike, say, "Get On Your Boots" was for U2. PJ was probably in a place where they were, for lack of a better word, testing their fan-base to see who was really "with them." I have to admit, they sort of lost me for a short time - at least until Yield was released. I was overseas when I bought Yield and they were giving away No Code with it. It wasn't until then when I really started to appreciate many of the songs on that album. They also opened the show I attended in Auckland with "Sometimes" and "Hail, Hail" which I found really interesting - in a good way.

    They no question lost me, for a bit, with No Code.After I heard the songs live (from No Code) I really liked them though.Sometimes,Red Mosquito,In My Tree,Off He Goes,Smile and Present Tense, are some of my favorite PJ tunes.

    My problem with No Code,Yield and to a lesser extent, Binaural,are the way the songs were recorded.They purposly dulled the sound.Some of the songs even sound like demos.I dont really listen, to the studio versions, of the aforementioned albums.I have LIVE only mixes, of those 3 releases, on my iPod.Try it for a comparison.

    If you listen to Red Mosquito live,(try Praha,06.14.00),then the studio version,its like 2 different songs.The drums,guitars and vocals fly out at you live. Sometimes (05.30.00 London,my gig !!!) was a great opener in 2000.Present Tense, live from Milan,06.22.2000 (my show) IMO,is THE version of this song and maybe their best ever live gig.Seriously,a fantastic gig.Not just because I was there.Given To Fly,live,has so my more energy than the studio version.Of The Girl, live from Milan 2000,just amazing groves from Mike.

    IMO, the songs from No Code and Yeild, are great songs,just way superior live.
  11. very happy you take examples from Milan gig one of my shows too .. and i agree with you about No code and Binaural .. a bit less about Yield
    but you can name examples of songs better in studio version than live? of course considering the best performance
    the Avocado for me is another album much more listenable live than studio.
    ok that the gap between studio and live for those 2 album is larger
    i'm not saying that studio the album are not great .. how could i .. i always listen to them with great pleasure
  12. Do you recommend live mixes in the order that they are listed on the actual album or do you have an alternative ordering of the tracks.

    I've completed my first drafts of Seattle 2000, Mexico 2003, and Italia 2006 two-disc compilations. They are much better than the five-disc set of just random gigs spanning from 1995 to 2010 that I mad ein June,
