The (unfortunate) thing about long mixes is that I rarley have enough time to listen to them from start to finish.

Great year to be both a U2 and PJ fan.

Yes,the band were a good 12 songs in I believe. They just finished Daughter, and were about to play Alive.Thats when EV saw the bodies being pulled over the barricades. In the film, you can actually see him crying on the stage. That is one of the reasons he wouldnt sing Alive after that.Until the final night of the tour......

No. I only heard about it last week. I was wondering if some of the footage in PJ20 was also from that film. I am assuming it's quite good.

I've been listening to my Italy 2006 mix. Those truly were five great shows. The crowd sounds great. Were you at any (all?) of them?

i was in Milan and Verona .. very suggestive location here .. i regreat a little i didn't Pistoia another cool location

here a "nice" article about the tragedy

Interesting read. It makes sense that the European Tour ended here. Embarrassingly, I initially thought it was a coincidence that the tragedy occurred on the last date as opposed to what really happened - them cancelling the remaining shows. Good for them. I am sure they put forth an extra something when they returned to Europe in 2003.
  4. I just watched 20 today. Amazing documentary!!! Very well made, I could write a 10 page review on how awesome it was at different parts, but just watch it and you'll see what I mean (if you haven't already).

I'm now pissed off I didn't go see them when they came here I was all "concerted out" after seeing U2 so many times this summer that I was like "Ahhh I've had enough for now". Now I regret it. I've always loved this band since the first time someone showed me Alive. Ah well.
  5. I saw one show (T.O. Night 1) but am STILL kicking myself for not getting to the next evening's show and even the show a few days later in Hamilton. What are ya gonna do?

The answer to that rhetorical question is simply pick up some of those Canadian bootlegs when they are released - hopefully soon.

The band came very close to breaking up after that. They actually didnt return to Europe til 2006.

The first show, after the tragedy,is 08.03.00 .Virginia Beach,VA.They open up with a very subdued, but also intense version of Long Road. You can hear the anguish in Eddies voice throughout the show. Try to check that gig out...

  8. Close to 70 songs,a hair under 5 hours...my imagined 4 CD box set, LOL, of the European Tour 2000.This tour, is my personal favorite, by this great great live band....
  9. This would be great. We can make it but I suppose we wouldn't have the official packaging/artwork (which I do appreciate, even though it should be all about the music)....and this was only the Euro leg, eh?
  10. Yes..Europe only.I will post a N.American setlist soon......not as long...Ill make it a nice tidy 35 tunes...
  11. Looking forward to your NA selections. I know that I'm being way too particular but knowing that one of my favourite songs (In My Tree) will be included in that mix makes your next post all the more intriguing.

Going to download the Hamburg "Porch" and give it a listen. However, I'm getting use to (even prefer) the slow intro and the extended jams in the live versions that I've been listening to of late.

If and when you get a chance, give the whole Hamburg show a listen. Also Berlin. This evening,Im goin to listen to the gig from Austria (06.18.00).Since its snowing here in NYC,I fig the Austrain show fits my mood.Due to the location and all...

The N.American set I will post in a couple days. There are twice as many shows, as Europe, to choose songs from. But I will just take versions of songs, from some of the best gigs IMO,from both N.American legs. And I will make it, a nice, solid 35 tracks....I think.....lol
