1. You don't feel the addition of the great Hard to Imagine instead of Pry,To and Stupid Mop would have made Vitalogy a masterpiece ?

Then again,George Martin wanted the White Album to be a single album...so,what do I know....

The recording also suffers from the "demo-like" sound...the loud crispness of Vs and Ten were unfortunately abandoned. The remaster sounds a little bit better, but not much......I hope they do a total makeover of No Code....and include a live show from '96,with as many songs performed live from No Code as possible.
  2. The remastered sound on Vitalogy is spectacular. It's a huge step-up from the original. In fact, Pearl Jam done well with their remasters.

The original masters of No Code sound dreadful, like you've stated several times before, Ed. It sounds really tinny and muffled to me. A remaster is in need, definitely.

There's a lot of talk (among fans) about a No Code and Yield remaster combo - much like the Vs/Vitalogy one.

    Fingers crossed.

all the reasons you carry, very understandable of course, lead me to a different point .. the fillers .. the demo-like sound .. i like. for me Vitalogy is already a masterpiece even without Hard to Imagine
it's better than Stupid Mop of course but i love the road it went through.
probably it would have lost that "aura" it has if it was put in an album or played often

(The White Album is my favourite album by the fab four )

it must be in the same way
    1990-92 (Ten)
    1993-95 (Vs/Vitalogy)
    1996-98 (No Code/Yield)

it would ruin my furniture if it won't be the same as the other 2 hehe
  6. nevertheless i completely agree with the PJ-SG ranking .. almost

Ten > Ultramega Ok no contest
Vs > Louder Than love no contest
    Vitalogy > Badmotorfinger
    No Code < Superunknown
Yield <> Down On The Upside
    On Two Legs <> I-5
    Backspacer < King Animal
  7. The toughest comparison for me is definitely Vitalogy vs. BMF. In terms of straight ahead song, Vitalogy wins. In terms of flow/cohesion, BMF wins (iIm in agreement with Ed that those four "songs" are dsiruptive). I'll give the edge to Vitalogy based on all the wonderful live performances I've been able to hear over the past few years.

Yield holds a special place in my heart (saw them in 1998 - more bootlegs please) and it get the nod over DOTU for me, which has some great songs but also some forgettable ones.

I agree with everything else. Obviously, Superunknown and King Animal blow their competition out of the water, as do Ten and Vs.
  8. Come to think of it, I'll give Live on I-5 the edge over Live on Two Legs if only that too much is missing from the PJ release. It should definitely have been a two-disc release.
  9. Some exciting PJ news today?

  10. where are The Day I Tried To Live, Blow Up the Outside World, Gun, 4th of July, Hands All Over, Like A Suicide, Get On The Snake, Ugly Truth ....?
and Full On Kevin's Mom? hehe
