1. "We’re excited to get it done..." - Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)'s response to the new Pearl Jam album.

This is the latest "update" from Mike's Facebook page.......
  2. 05.24.06 Boston N1

A solid version of Release starts off Boston 1.The crowd sound fantastic here, towards the 3:20 mark, they scream out "RELEASE ME" for Ed.Just awesome...shows the fans were ready.

The classic songs to start the show are all there.Release,Corduroy,ANIMAL,RED MOSQUITO.Very solid start.I would have been fired up.My problem though,is with the "extra" tunes.LBC ?,never a favorite of mine, same goes for Green Disease.IMO,2 songs from the far superior No Code could have been inserted.Same goes for Down, its below average,so lets treat this song like its Deep or Leash.....sorry,it isnt.

Better Man sounds ok.. not at all great....there are some annoying taps by Matt C,while the crowd were singing along at the start...Ed is kinda ho humming along,...this version certainly doesnt "have it"..

Unemployable is awful, always has been, always will be.I know it was a new song here, but still.Ed's preaching is so annoying. He can be such an irritating prima donna when he wants."I know alot of you have graduated, that song is for you." Nothing like having an uneducated, millionaire,"rock star",acting like he is educated, when he isnt, and knows so much more than you,he doesnt, preach of how terrible life is.Thanks Ed....its a rock concert, not a sermon.I'm here to fucking unwind......get off the soap box and shut up....

Even Flow sounds so off, mistakes galore. This trainwreck is followed by a terrible run of Sad,Wishlist,Gone,Green Disease and Down...ouch.Talk about 2 or 3 beer runs, thats like a quarter of the main set....Sad is ok...but again,guys...how about playing Oceans there,or Once or GIVEN TO FLY ??? ......etc........

Another thing..why are PJ's main sets so short ? 1 hour and 17 min main set ? The main set fits on a single disc. What are they Coldplay ? A main set should be longer than 1 hour and change.

Anyhow, the classic Jeremy picks things up...kinda......too little..too late ?...yes.Again,Ed is not giving it here...ho hum ho hum..Jeremy spoke in class today, talk about monotonous...very strange.Matt sounds better backing him.

    Encore 1

Ed and Jeff start the first encore with Bob Dylan’s Forever Young, followed by a full-band Masters of War,in honor of Dylan’s 65th birthday.2 songs is too many IMO.Masters of War does sound great though.Prior to Forever Young,Ed salutes Boston, mentions the beer stands, and says he doesn’t mean to be cynical, and dedicates it to the college graduates as well.Being cynical.Great Ed..thanks.

Solid version of Crazy Mary follows.....but I would have been like WTF ? 3 covers in a row ? Not good.

Inside Job is such a good tune, but no way,no how should it have been in the encore here.Alive,as expected,is predictable, and as always it seems, closes this very uneventful encore.

    Encore 2

Here is hands down, the best part of the show.Too little.. too late ?? YEP.

STBC,Evolution,WHIPPING and RATS ??..in a row ?? woa...amazing run,and they sound great.....I would have wet myself.....but,my excitment would have been short lived..Comatose ?...Now ?...Really ?? C'mon man.....

I could picture myself,if I was at this show..saying "please, just dont end the show with another cover ..ok....ok ??...not RITFW ??!!!...oh noooooo "....OUCH OUCH ....terrible way to end the show.

    3 stars

Main set was weak....encore 1 was awful.....encore 2 had a great 4 song run..but ending the show with Comotose and RITFW is a swift kick in the balls.......terrible placement of songs all over...

Highlights were few....Release,Red Mosquito,MASTERS OF WAR,STBC,Evolution,Whipping and RATS of course....

I expect more from Pearl Jam.
  3. Nice reviews - both of you. It looks like we are all in agreement with this one. Possibly the weakest show so far.

My Boston 2 review is ready. Are yours?
  4. I listened to Boston 2 today...Im not ready to post it up yet..I will soon ....
  5. I will wait.

I said I was going to quit making compilations for a while but I think we should put something together once we've reviewed as many 2006 shows as we are planning to review.

Also, I'm "feeling" some sort of mix using variation Canadian shows...one disc from 2000, one from 2003, one from 2005 (yes, just one for all of those show!), one from 2006, and one from 2011...I don't think a single 2009 show merits an entire disc to itself...oh, wait...they played Vancouver and Calgary didn't they? Was the Calgary show even released?
  6. After a little research (pj.com) it was indeed released. I've never listened to it!
  7. The summer 2009 shows I havent listened to since right after they came out......I know the London (08.18.09) and Berlin (08.15.09) shows were the standouts....very solid shows...similar though to the 2008 tour..sprinkled in with a couple of new tunes....
  8. Also..Id like to point out..Unemployable has been played only 3 times since 2010...Buffalo 05.10.10...Vancouver 09.25.11 and Philly 09.02.12...strange,being that the United States has an all time low, in the unemployment circle......oh,wait..thats right,Obama is the President...sorry..I forgot....we cant say anything negative..

    carry on.
  9. Im listening to Praha 07.02.12.....Sometimes,Animal,GTF.......Christ what a start..or as EV says....." Dear God...are you here, dear God..where waiting here, dear God "...Amen to that.

Prague is very good – certainly up there for me. But Ed, remember Manchester II? Go, Animal & Hail Hail. My legs were dead afterwards but not to mention the crowd were arseholes during those three particular songs because of their high energy.

pity that Stoney apparently said release not before 2014
  12. Ron,as we all know..Mike wants to do PJ full on...as do the others...that's why I attack EV.....they are not on the same page, its painfully obvious....its EVs call...now Matt is back with a band, that actually wants to be a band....I thought this would have scared EV....I'm sure he called Matt a thousand times kissing up to him...

As far as I know..PJ are doing nothing.....I know they are playing 3 festivals next month...that's great for those fans, but IMO,its pointless,I don't care..if they were touring for say...2 months I'd be on board, hell id probly go somewhere again........they need to go in the studio already....record the album....then tour it properly..not 2 weeks....stop...then 8 more gigs....and that's it.....very frustrating......if PJ toured every year,as DMB..and played the same songs etc....i would be fine with it....I would say hey,PJ love touring, and we the fans love it.....but this is not the case.....1 show at Wrigley Field screams of hype, and an inevitable release,no doubt listed as a "must have show"....

I love this band,as I do with U2,DMB,Radiohead and the Chief....when they need to be ripped,I fucking rip them....I have no problem with Yorke going out with Atoms ...as he said Radiohead will be back in the studio by the fall....or was that Colin ? And Radiohead did a full proper run of shows in 2012...and it would have been more,if not for the Toronto disaster.
