1. Boston N2 05.25.06

Rocking version of Severed Hand kicks things off.Corduroy,WWS,Evolution,GTF (decent version),Dissident and then Even Flow.Couldnt ask for a better start.Band sound crisp and fresh. But,the show is brought to an absolute halt.Marker,Low Light,Insignificant,Army Reserve.Piss break /beer run galore.

Ed talks about how it was such a beautiful day in Boston and a beatiful day for them and his daughter whose “back home in another city.” He then mentions that their thoughts turn toward those put in a dire situation overseas and plays a solid, but cut version of Garden.I have mentioned over and over,I dont understand why they played it this way.

I Got ID>SOLAT sound great, unfortunately the boring Comatose follows.Killing the feel.

Inside Job,as always,is welcomed.RVM (as usual) closes this broken set. What a shocker.RVM ended the main set.Flip this classic with Alive please.Still love hearing both songs.

    Encore 1

Wasted Reprise > Man of the Hour. Not bad,but I certainly would have been annoyed.

Before Small Town,Ed says the song used to be so easy to play, but they kept “fucking it up.” Small Town sounds good, and Ed lets the crowd finish.Again, this tune should have been played mid set,not now.If the boys are going to bust out the acoustic's,play Small Town, sure. But also play Off He Goes,Nothing Man,IMMORTALITY,DAUGHTER ???

Parachutes is nice, but for me this doesnt belong in the encore.Ed loses his way.Ocean's anyone ????

Black absolutely saves this encore.Stunning version.I would have let out a sigh of refief here.....crowd sing their hearts out...as if they were waiting all night.

Alive (as usual) closes the encore. Why couldnt the band play Alive second, during the main set ? PJ (unlike Dave Matthews Band) are so fucking predictable.I love this tune, but it has to be moved in the set. How about ending the encore with Once ?? or blowing my mind and busting out DIRTY FRANK ????

    Encore 2

Why Go.I like it....good version.Life Wasted ???,terrible placement here.WTF Ed ??!! Encore 2 is reserved for CLASSICS.He knows better.

SMILE ??!!!!???!! No Code ? Hmmmmm...Turns out,a small girl was in the crowd (3rd row),with a sign that said Smile.Ed brought her up onstage, she gave him flowers.Ed hugs her,and plays the tune.Classy.Nice moment.Very very nice.I would have been bitching like a little child by now,but this scene would have shut me right up for the night.Impressive.Hands down, highlight of the show.

The classic INDIFFERENCE follows.Ed discusses, how the proceeds for the show are going to benefit a charity for homeless children in the city, and how a "great man promised they’d match the donation". He seems moved to know such a man “with intelligence and heart,” and says you may have heard of him since his name is Theo Epstein (G M of the Boston Red Sox)”. The crowd goes bananas.Another great moment.

LEASH ????!!!!!!??????!!!!! WTF ??!!! Noooo wayyyy.Woa.I would have seriously pissed myself now.The last time this classic was played,04.11.94 !!! In Boston.WOW !! A flub of course starts it.Who cares. This show went from ok,to classic for me here.Just these 3 songs would have made this a classic night if I was there.DROP THE LEASH DROP THE LEASH !!!!!

RITFW and YL close,as predicted.I wouldnt have cared.I would still have been singing DROP THE LEASH DROP THE LEASH..WE ARE YOUNG !!!! DELIGHT IN THE TRUTH !!!

Ok main set, good encore 1 (Black makes any encore good, just by being played),encore 2 is stunning.Leash ?? SMILE AND INDIFFERENCE ???

    4 1/2 stars..no question.

    The songs for me are all here...they are just spread out..very spread out.Corduroy,GTF,Dissident,Even Flow,Garden,I Got ID,SOLAT,Inside Job,RVM,BLACK,Alive,Why Go,SMILE>INDIFFERENCE>LEASH !!!!!!!!

Thats too many great songs for just an average rating IMO.
  2. 2006-05-25 TD Garden - Boston, MA

A big man stands behind an open door and concert starts with Severed Hand and its extended intro, very good Mike raging all over and passing the guitar for the opening notes of Corduroy .. classic and for me one of the best for topping and drastically raising the level after the opening .. and it does .. again Mike seems quite in form tonite, well carrying the song to the end in good company by the band (great Stone in covering his shoulder). WWS predictable next .. time to rest it for a night? A second night at least?
I hope it’s not war I hope it’s not .. Evolution baby .. but Stone says it is time for it .. halllleelllujaahh .. and takes the lead .. he’s sooo good (Brad shows it all).
Again the ball is passed to the left stage for that dreaming arpeggio of the human being that was Given to Fly .. band, in the whole, is in top form and Dissident is no less, maybe Eddie should have tackled it tougher.
This great starting long run keeps going with classic Even Flow, Mike going for a bit chopped and long pulled-notes solo type till Stone calls the reprise and great audience to follow him.
Great 7 songs run by now .. but .. what come next drops the inertia .. a too long down sequence Marker in the Garden (it’s good once or twice as a change but in long term it just makes me miss even more the dear old version). All these songs very well performed, nothing to say still …
Insignificance has not much .. significance .. in this context.
I could put I Got ID in this section too, but I do love too much this song so I don’t and it’s a very good one this in Boston.
Mike launchs the riff, soon followed by Stone, that leads to a state of love and trust .. “minor” song that never fails .. very nice the audience even though I haven’t understood yet if Eddie had problem of syncro with the people of viceversa, somewhere else the crowd would have eaten the song. Very very good nonetheless.
Comatose needs to start as soon as the previous ends .. those few seconds break the energy a bit. Good they pulled it off the encore though.
The chords of Mike and the flying notes of Stone creates the wonderful atmosphere Inside Job can give .. love it .. I personally end the main set with this song every now and then when it’s played in this section .. the best for it.
But Rearviewmirror comes to take its spot .. great jam by all the band before having seen things so much clearer, and great ride to the end.
Wasted Reprise into Man of the Hour for a sweet reentry on stage .. other “minor” song I love as I love the little Matt backing here. Small Town in the encore? Play it as first song of it then; still quite involving one.
Ok first appearance of Parachutes (you know for me every song must have one shot at least=.. tooth removed .. no more please! hehe
From the bottom to the top .. Black .. no word needed .. just .. jeez the du du du du must overtop the band hehe
    Alive closing.
Matt beats the time for the second encore .. Why Go .. solid good one but Eddie a little bit rougher thanks 
Life Wasted .. similar speech as Small Town.
Time for Stone to embody Jeff and Jeff Stone to give away a Smile; good lovely one.
The great groove of Indifference seems to lead towards the end of the concert but Boston fans succeed in what was tried since years .. they drop the leash!!! Just for this they deserved a big applause! Thanks Bostonians.
Leash can never be a closer, even if it would be cool hehe, so a double shot to end.

Strange concert .. long moments saying fucking great! Long others saying please change rear! .. so I think getting in the middle is the best way.

Highlights: Leash (of course) - Severed Hand – Rearviewmirror – Black

    Rating: 3 1/2
  3. I enjoyed reading both of your reviews, Ed and Ron.

I will patiently await your Camden 1 reviews!

Until then, I've decided to start listening to the 2000 NA shows.
  4. Go to Det 10.07 ,Alpine 10.08 (Ice Bowl gig in East Troy) and the great Chicago 10.09 show.3 straight amazing shows from Oct 2000.These 3 have always been my top shows from that great tour.

St Louis is also very solid from 10.11.00.
  5. My plan is to start from the beginning - Virginia Beach, I believe.

I just "primed" myself by listening to that Live on Three Legs compilation. Did you ever get it? It's 99 tracks on 6 CD's - two from each leg.
  6. Your mix right ? I have a bunch of my own crazy mixes.I know I downloaded one of your wild mixes. Not sure which one it was though.

There are so many shows to go with. The final leg had the strongest NA shows IMO.Plus the 2 Philly and Pitt shows from Leg 2.
  7. Why don't you start right from the actual beginning, from Lisbon?
  8. I see your point, Kieran, but the sound quality on the Euro gigs isn't quite as good as the NA ones - and I have listened to a bunch of them already. From the two NA legs I have only listened to the two Canadian shows and the two Seattle shows in their entirety.

To be honest, I may be biting off more than I can chew and may simply still with the Ape-Man and Ed-Man shows.

No this one was made by someone else - it's better than mine in terms of transitions between songs (I've gotten better over the last year, however) and it is more comprehensive as it contains every song that they played live - 96 in all (mine had about 72 songs).

To be honest, I don't blame you! Last summer I tried to listen to all of the Euro bootlegs and got bored. I don't think the setlist variation is as good as the NA bootlegs.

Received Backspacer on vinyl today and the New Year's Eve show from NYC. They were on sale on the Pearl Jam store so I picked them cheap at around $13. Still haven't received my Spectrum 2009 boxset yet...
