I will look at the SA shows today.Just bought tickets for Depeche Mode in Brooklyn Sept 6th..another of my big 80s bands...lol
Chris is flying in from London to see them in Brooklyn...a bit much IMO, but hey,my wife says that about me flying over the pond to see PJ..so who am I to say anything...lol
Camden second stop .. night 1 was opened by new stuff and obviously a classic from the past makes the job this night .. Wash is the chosen one. Always very nice when it happens and this time is nothing less. Great way to wash thoughts and getting into the atmosphere.
Atmosphere soon begins to get overheated when the venue is fulfilled by the crazy bass lines of Go .. executed almost with the right roughness. New material coming with World Wide Suicide (very actual nowadays too) and Severed Hand .. great song but played with the intro in the middle of a section in a certain way breaks the pace .. I’d better skip the intro at this spot. Great and pressing version however and wonderful transition to Corduroy .. there’s nothing much to say about this evergreen, right for every occasion .. absolutely nothing changed .. it is always amazing; wonderful the final ride led by Mike, who, just the time for a small breathe, soon launch the rocking pressing riff of Save You .. soon followed by Stone and the band. Great and great Stone in his solo hint. Always a heavy load this song. Eddie tackle it well enough at the end.
The first run of the gig is done until a strange spot in sky is seen .. Given To Fly to start the mid section which is a bit weaker from the rest flowing through Army Reserve, Grievance, Gone .. not a big let down though
Even Flow to start the final run of the main set .. honest one, not superlative like many other times but still quite good.
You Are next and when a riot act happens I’m always happy .. love everything of this song .. the picking by Stone the extened notes by Mike the vocal line by Eddie the beats by Matt and Jeff the B3 behind the chorus .. great.
Time to recite some wishes before falling in Satan’s Bed .. already in love
I still can’t get full into this Garden .. nice but far from what it really is .. different from the 3 guitars rousing at full speed riff of Whipping .. come on and go for a great immediate punk rock moment.
The hard rocking goes on passing through an enjoyable Life Wasted soon followed by the starting notes by Eddie .. Rearviewmirror to close the main set with the usual jam, Stone and Mike brilliant.
Boom and Eddie open the first encore with Wasted Reprise into Man Of The Hour .. sweet sweet and beautiful song .. sweet Matt behind Eddie
Parachutes .. I said one time is nice .. two is too much hehe
Black comes to set the level to the highest point .. speechless .. nice the whispered double tag So Lonely/ We Belong Together.
Take a bottle drink it down pass it around to be prepared for the Boom/Mike duel even though it’s much more Boom this time. This man really knows what to do.
Classic Alive to close the encore.
Hard punk rocking for the last ride of the final encore .. Last Exit, Do The Evolution make a really nice pair back to back .. both quite well tackled
Now I would have preferred they kept this pace but they slow down a bit with Glorified G .. and, like I said other times, Comatose is not right at this point .. it needs to follow a pumped song .. it would have been better before Glorified G.
Cool third Leash in a row .. the boys get taste with it hehe .. very good one at a very good spot. The Who tribute Baba .. I’m always impressed by what Mike does on his guitar when Townshend did it on a synthesizer.
Yellow Ledbetter to close with the usual way to say bye.
Very very nice double date in Camden with the first one on the spotlights and this one a little lower but it was still a very enjoyable concert .. not many standouts but it flows quite well
Highlights: You Are – Whipping – Man of the Hour – Black
