1. FINALLY!
  2. Interesting.....Im looking forward to this and I will be watching closely ...this has to better then Ole, that was brutal.

This is a very important/critical release for PJ. IMO,the band haven't released a great album since Yield. I want a complete album please. I dont find myself saying.."Hey let me bust out Riot Act or Binaural".....I have done this with DMBs last 2 releases (BW -2009 and AFTW - 2012). I love DMBs last 2 albums...

Backspacer, for me, had filler songs on it, like Got Some, Supersonic, the awful Johnny Guitar, even Gonna See My Friend is ok..the rest is good, with Just Breathe and The End being the stand out tracks..and basically EV solo tunes. Plus, it was only 36 min long.

U2 were in a similar spot back in 2000. They needed something great, as longtime fans like me were done with them......as we know, U2 delivered with the great ATYCLB..and then, they did it again with HTDAAB in '04........

....lets hope PJ can do the same.....deliver a great album, or at least something very very good...
  3. Another Tweet from @PearlJam asking "Are you a member of the 10c"

    hmmmm
  4. I really should just spend the $20 for the piece of mind...
  5. Wow 8th of July still some time away. If you read the anticipation on this all, the band is still hot. Agree with you ED, must be special. Read somewhere that Stone considers shows sometimes as sing alongs, agree with him, but that happens when you have no new material in years.
  6. Found this in todays Rolling Stone :

A concert shouldn't feel like a Broadway show. It should feel like a unique experience, but some acts drag the same exact show around the globe for 18 months and never alter one note of it. Some acts feel they have figured out the perfect setlist that tells some sort of a story and builds to a series of climaxes. Do not believe them. There is no such thing as the perfect setlist. It should be constantly evolving.

This is particularly rough on fans that see multiple shows on a tour. Phish, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Furthur and Dave Matthews Band go to great lengths to make each show completely special and unique for fans. Other acts should take note.

  7. Havent I been saying this exact same thing about U2 and Coldplay for years and years ??

Its nice to see PJ and DMB recognized for their amazing unpredictable sets night in and night out !!!
  8. I absolutely agree. That's the only real fault that U2 have for me. Nevertheless, they don't tour around Spain much so I get to see 1 or 2 shows per tour - not more... And, if I weren't an "online fan" (aka, the kind of fan that checks out bootlegs and setlists), I wouldn't really care about a foreign city having the same setlist as mine... Would I? I mean, they play for the 80.000 people in the stadium that night, not for the few guys who sit at their computers and discuss each show online!

Still it would be realllllly nice to have U2 change their setlists more often.
  9. I noticed things in this PJ thread have been dead last few days. So I did a quick review today.

    Jones Beach 08.24.00

This show is the second out of three shows at Jones Beach. The previous night was pretty average and unremarkable, and the local finale the following night was absolutely stupendous. I was at all 3 shows, the weather for N1 was brutal.Rain, and cold out. This middle child of the New York residency is a very solid performance. It's definitely better than the first night, and serves as a warm up for the following show in which they pulled out all the stops. In this bootleg, the performances by all band members are solid and no-nonsense, with especially fine renditions of the rockers "Last Exit" and "Spin the Black Circle." The band is especially strong in this evening's extended jams, really getting a groove going in the extended takes on "Daughter," "I Got Shit," and "Rearviewmirror." The set list is above average, as compared to the overall series, there are a few rarities like "Dissident" and "Rival," both of which are played energetically tonight. As is Of The Girl and NAIS, which has been, and will always be monsters live.

This boot is a prime example of a strong show. But it is slightly overshadowed by the gig the following evening, which is one of the BEST OF 2000.

    ****1/2 stars

True. I remember though back in the day, in my youth (lol) I would see U2 up to 10 times a tour.

ZooTV was the exact same gig at my 10 shows. Same with my 10 JT gigs in '87. Thats a shame IMO.

I loved all my shows, no question. But it must get so boring for them.
