    I can't say that I am much of a fan of the album at all. Aside from "Unthought Known" (which I quite like) and the two slow ones (which, for me, have lost quite a bit of their initial luster over the past year), I really don't think the album is very good when compared to the rest of their catalog.

    All of this said, I think I can count on the number of times I've listen to the actual album on one hand. I have heard all of the songs many times more as live versions - and I don't need to hear "Got Some" and "The Fixer" ever again.

  7. Here's a way to help this thread make a bit of a come back: Let's critique a song and your own personal "history" with it. Now, now. I'm not trying to get "heavy" here and end up getting TMI.

    In any case, I'll start with "Wishlist" (as opposed to something somewhat obvious, like "Better Man" or "Alive")

    Upon its release in 1998, I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of "Wishlist." It started to grow on me much later on - I mean YEARS later. I think the best performance of the song come from 2000 (I only have a few versions from 1998 that I really should revisit). The end lyrics, "I wish I was the radio song, the one you couldn't run off" are quite nice in these early performances. Nowadays, it seems to go on forever and/pr EV screws up the lyrics.

    I don't know if I'll give an overall rating but just state my favourite live performance comes from the West Palm Beach show in 2000.

    Feel free to add your own thoughts on this song. When we've said enough, we can move on to another.

    Admittedly, I'd like to end up getting everyone's favourite version of several PJ songs so I can, you know, make the ULTIMATE compilation one day.
  8. Pearl Jam (like DMB) are so powerful live, there are 2 specific performances that brought me back into the fold. The first is the 2nd infamous night at Randalls Island,09.29.96.

    Its safe to say I pretty much hated No Code upon its release in '96. The sound was flat on each and every song. I was very into Oasis and Radiohead at this time , and I stopped listening to U2 after the 1992 Zoo TV Tour.

    Once I heard Sometimes live and the rest of the songs on No Code live, I really got back into PJ. That show was amazing.

  9. The 2nd time I got back into PJ was at the infamous MSG N1 show..07.08.03.

    I have mentioned many times how furious I was with the band , after walking out of the Nassau gig 04.30.03.

    I was done with PJ...but my friend Chris was coming over from London for the 2 shows..so I reluctantly attended N1. The show was amazing, EV behaved, and that was that for me...I was hooked again...

    There are shows from 2000 that were much better then this show IMO...Milan and Chicago etc...but this show from 2003 has great meaning for me....

    If there is one show I hope the release from their "vault," it is without a doubt this one.


  11. Why did you call it infamous? Did something happen (aside from EV's bad haircut) at this show? Admittedly, I've only listened to it once or twice and never watched the show in its entirety.
  12. Because fans (including the band themselves) have said this is one of PJs best shows ever.

    EV has gone on record saying this was a top show for this band.

    Ed mentions that the staff at the Garden told him that they have only seen the stage rumble that hard in three shows: Grateful Dead, Iron Maiden (at which point Mike plays a quick riff from ‘Number Of The Beast’) and Bruce Springsteen (which elicits a major cheer).

    Ed says it will cost them $14,000, but that they will break curfew and keep playing (nearly three hours), going until almost midnight. Stellar show with the crowd wild (HUGE fan club turnout) and the band on fire.
