1. I am just adding my two cents to what was already stated:

Nevermind became popular quite quicky while Ten simmered for a little bit. "Teen Spirit" was (and deserved to be) huge while PJ classics like "Even Flow" and "Alive" were big but not AS big. The video for "Jeremy" definitely bolstered their accessiblity - and then they turned their backs on MTV and refused to create one for "Black" (which would have taken them to another absolutely insane level) or any other videos until 1998 - awesome move! Anyway, I think the overall consnsus was that PJ had a little more depth.

By the time the fall of 1993 came around (when both Vs and In Utero were released) the world loved PJ but seemed to be losing interest in Cobain and his antics. Reviews for In Utero were mixed while they were quite favourable for Vs. Cobain's attempts at suicide (sadly) increased his/Nirvana's popularity and it exploded when he eventually did himself in. Anyway, I don't think PJ benefitted from Cobain's suicide. In fact, I think they had a somewhat monumental task in creating something that would remove themselves from the whole ordeal. I've always felt that they succeeded with the release of Vitalogy.

It's very difficult to compare a PJ show to, say, a U2 show. They're so different. I will say, however, that I felt very satisfied with what PJ did - playing straight ahead rock n' roll with relatively little (needed) to complement their music.

I agree.I hate that U2 went back to the over the top 360 Claw.It was a distraction IMO.An event, not a rock show.It was fucking ridiculous.Im there for the music.Thats something the Stones would do.I mean, would Bruce, PJ or DMB do that ? No.

In the 1980s,U2 would just walk on the stage, and play. They were fantastic.

Pearl Jams shows havent changed a bit in 20 years.Thank God.

Bono recently said, he wants U2 to play different sets each night.I cant see that happening.I dont think U2 are capable of doing 2 ,completely different setlist over 2 nights. They never have.Bono would never be able to remember the words.

We all know,PJ do this all the time.Couple repeats each night.Alive etc.But over a 2 night stand,I have heard upwards of 40 + different songs. That is very impressive.PJ are fantastic live.1 show is not enough.
  5. Ed, are you making a trip to the Manchester show while you are here in the UK for Isle of Wight?

  6. I would love to back to Manchester.I went there in 2005 to see Oasis. Its a crazy city.LOL..But I doubt it...Im going to all 3 nights to Isle Of Wright.TP,PJ and Bruce should be amazing.
  7. Im flyin in on thursday the 21st.I believe another UK gig is going to pop up.I could head over to Amsterdam.Im staying in London til the 28th of June.My friend Chris lives there, and works for the BBC.I crash at his place. That is huge for me.Hes heard som rumblings. So,anything is possible.July 5th, Im goin to see Coldplay in Philadelphia,so I have to get back in the States.
  8. I just got word Noel Gallagher is playing the Isle of Wright on sunday ??? Before Bruce comes on ?????? Holy Shit !! ??? !!!..

Yes he is. Damn, you are lucky. Isle of Wight looks awesome.

What is that about another UK date popping up? Where about would it be?
  10. Well, there is a couple of nights there,21st,22nd, 24th and 25th.But,I doubt they would play on the 22nd and 24th,as its N1 and N3 of the festival. But,who knows.

My buddy heard some word today,PJ were looking to play a smaller venue as well.Nothing is official.Maybe Shepherds Bush Empire on June 25th ???

Maybe the O2 on June 25th ? Both are located in London.I would seriously shit myself if that happens......LOL

First Noel is going to be there, and I also found out Elbow are playing N1.The Seldom Seen Kid is brilliant. This is a good day indeed !!!!!
