Been scratching my head on some of the lyric changes to songs throughout this tour, wanted to see if there were any best guesses as to why.
Zooropa:
I'm beside myself with excitement that they are playing Zooropa...but Bono seems to have problems with
And I have no religion
And I don't know what's what
And I don't know the limit
The limit of what we've got
At first changing it to
And where is my religion
Cuz I don't know what's what
I just know the limit
The limit of what we've got
And then cutting that verse all together for the Mexico shows.
Ultraviolet
I guess it's the price of love; I know it's not cheap.
Which is one of my favorite parts of the song...Bono still doesn't seem to know how to sing that lyric...he kind of just scats the last part. It really bugs me!!!
What's going on? Is it an ideological/theological thing for the B-Man? I think of how U2 poked fun at Johnny Cash for not wanting to sing "Yeah, I went out for the papers, told her I'd be back by noon"...but Bono seems to be doing a "make Greedo shoot before Han" rewrite on some of the lyrics.
(I know this is nitpicky - especially over two songs I hope they continue to play every show from here on out!)
Just thought other people might be scratching their head as heads as well...thoughts? Opinions?
the only problem with this is that the alterations aren't usually an improvement, zooropa being a good case in point. they tend to sound forced and stick out quite noticably.
