But again you're missing the point - precisely the point of a band & audience feeding off each other's energy. A crowd that is singing and jumping in unison is far more likely to inspire the band to the kind of performance you'd want to see on a dvd than an audience that is sitting in their chairs enjoying a beer. This has been part of the problem with the last two dvd's in particular - the stale performances have come hand in hand with quiet crowds.
Not blaming the audience totally - the timing was very poor on the band's (or their management's part) for the Rose Bowl.
Also the point of a concert DVD is surely to replicate a concert experience in your own living room, is it not? Can you not just watch Letterman if you want to see the band performing live in the other case?
Btw are you really saying that the Slane crowd was only as good as the crowd from Boston - Streets anyone![]()

U2 can afford to do anything, and film anywhere.....

If they do another (which I hope) they must do it where the crowds are big and the atmosphere hungry for U2. Rose Bowl was OK.. but it was lacking in what their other shows produced beforehand. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed Rose Bowl but it was no Slane Castle, Sydney or Mexico City like their other tour DVDs but was infinitely better than Chicago for other reasons.

I agree, but the band did release U23D,which was filmed in South America. That film should have been longer.I enjoyed it and I wish they would release it.
