  1. i am also a member if u2 torrents and have both flac and mp3 in my collection. i do however respect the wishes of the tapers and if i do convert a show for my ipod i do it for my own use.

    some of the links and shows here with the lineage shown are clearly disregarding the tapers wishes and this will only wind people up.

    why simply put up the flac files on the torrent section and let people convert themselves for their own use. this would then please all parties????

    i am happily a member of both sites without favour as are a lot of fans, and after all we both want great recordings from each show.

    looking at the posts above its obvious the tapers are wound up by the lack of respect shown to their requests.

    JUST PUT THE FLAC LINK IN THE SHOW PAGE INSTEAD OF CONVERTING IT AND PISSING PEOPLE OFF??? EVERYONE THEN WINS.


  2. I think the main issue is that people tend to want mp3 files but most recordings often start out as FLAC. Although FLAC does have a greater quality, I feel that people are choosing the mp3 format because it is supported by portable media players whereas FLAC is not.

    Also, FLAC files tend to be much larger than mp3 files, so FLAC files tend to be incompatible and inconvenient for users who prefer direct downloads as opposed to torrents. Personally, I don't use torrents and I feel that the difference in quality between FLAC and mp3 is nearly negligible when compared to the convenience factor of being able to play it on my iPod.

  3. i agree with all you say. the problem is its pissing the tapers off so decent sources will be slow coming or not at all. sure, convert it for your own use then delete and everyone wins.

    ultimately we will run dry of good recordings and do you want to end up with 3.5 stars on your ipod????
  4. ^^ alano we've had this discussion multiple times. Fact is that u2start.com does not feel like they should obey taper's wishes. As a result, quite some tapers do not share their stuff openly anymore at all.

    Yup, complete wide angle has also been shot (not by me, I am one of the GA cams). Patience please...most of you have no idea how much time goes into editing...

    Also a multicam for the 17th is planned as far as I know.

    And there will be audio for the 17th as well, but it will not be uploaded before mid August / September.

    About the taper thing, actually, the tapers' wishes has been obeyed here lately. Some people with blogs post links here though to their blogs with mp3s.

    So there's hope...let's see if it is too late or not. Anyhow I don't think many other (better) recordings will show up any time soon.

    I check every day to find if audio from the June 17th Anaheim show is available, and was losing hope. Just knowing it WILL be available made my girlfriend's and my day!
