1. So I was listening to "Every Breath You Take" by The Police and I thought it was kinda like The Police's "Where the Streets Have No Name". It's probably their most successful most well known song. I thought every artist probably has a song like that but I can't think of them. Fortunately I have this wonderful website I can ask: What other bands' songs are like their "Streets".
  2. Bono says the only other song that can lift a crowd like Streets does is Break on Through to the Other Side by The Doors.
  3. Streets is not U2's most successful nor most well known song, but anyway...

    I'm writing this songs based only in the live sense, comparing it as Streets is a landmark in every U2 show...

    Muse ---> Plug In Baby
    Coldplay ---> Clocks, Viva La Vida
    REM ---> Man On The Moon, Losing My Religion
    Arctic Monkeys ---> When The Sun Goes Down
    Franz Ferdinand ---> Take Me Out
    Oasis ---> Wonderwall
    Red Hot Chili Peppers ---> Californication, Give It Away
    The Strokes ---> Reptilia
    The Killers ---> When You Were Young (it's always the last song, U2 should learn)

    EDIT. Dan, believe it or not, I had written Mr. Brightside after the WYWY explanation, but I thought it looked ugly, too long compared to the rest of the groups, and deleted it But yeah, I 100% agree. Mr. Brightside is just the other landmark on any TK show.
    EDIT-2. Agree about Everlong too, but I'm not a strong fan of FF so I couldn't tell for sure (don't know most of their songs). And Knights Of Cydonia is the exact same thing as The Killers. Plug In Baby is the middle-show highlight (=Mr Brightside), and KOC is the final bang (=When You Were Young).
  4. Mr. Brightside for The Killers, in terms of fan reaction, fame and the quality of live performances. plus it's the only song played at every show, much like U2 with Streets.

    also:

    One Day Like This - Elbow
    Feeling A Moment - Feeder
    Everlong - Foo Fighters
    Knights of Cydonia - Muse
  5. There's nothing you can compare to 'Streets'.
  6. Coldplay - yellow
    R.E.M. - Country feedback
    Snow Patrol - Run
    Floyd - Comfortably Numb
    Depeche Mode - Enjoy the silence/ never let me down again
    Radiohead - Karma Police
    Manics - A Design for Life
    Springsteen - Born to run
  7. totally agree on both points sergio, and i was debating whether to put PIB for the muse one, but ended up with Knights in the end just for the more "epic" quality of the song - as opposed to PIB's insane riff-heavy rock - as it bears more similarity to Streets.

    couple more:

    Motorcycle Emptiness - Manic Street Preachers
    Today - Smashing Pumpkins (when they decide to play it)
    Dakota - Stereophonics

  8. Really?? Well, I haven't been to any REM shows (also high on my to attend list), but from the bootlegs I've heard, CF doesn't seem to mean an explosion in both the audience's and the ban's energy... Does it? I'd love to be proved wrong with a concrete live recomendation

    Agree on the rest of your post (except Yellow, although it has got better since 2006). How could I forget Born To Run!!
  9. I never knew such a mythical creature could exist...

    But for Muse, I think it's definitely Stockholm Syndrome.

  10. Yeah I agree, its stood the test of time and is a live show must, especially when it goes on for 10 minutes at some performances.

  11. hahaha... funnily enough, I thought the same a year ago. I quote myself from my review on the only Muse show I attended so far (Muse in Madrid, 2010-06-16):

    (...) when Stockholm Syndrome started!!!!! I don't remember a lot of this song because I literally went mad during it (the girl who was besides me asked at the end of the song if I was fine - she was scared!)... It wasn't one of my favorite songs until last month or so, when I got a lot into it... And oh God, what a great version they delivered. The whole stadium was levitating, it was something really similar to the feeling that you get when Streets plays at a U2 concert, really. Everyone jumping and singing and whoa, it was amazing.

    That's what I wrote

  12. Actually for Foo Fighters I'd probably say 'Times Like These' as Everlong is a bit of a slow song

    And Muse's Streets is definetly Plug in Baby. That song is amazing live!!.

    I reckon the only ones I can add that haven't been said is No One Knows by Queens of the Stone age and Seven Nation Army by White Stripes (who're no longer together anyways!!)

    Oh and 'One' for Metallica. Haven't heard a bootleg where they haven't played that song!.
