  1. So the latest U2 tour is coming to an end and as a consequence I decided to open a topic to discuss highlights, low points, surprises, frustrations, impact, thoughts and all that jazz about the tour.

    In my opinion, it was nice because it was the outdoor tour with most variation in the setlist of all they done in stadiums. But I still prefer smaller venues in terms of setlist. It´s undeniable we saw some amazing surprises: UV, HMKMTMKM, Scarlet, One Tree Hill, Zooropa, North Star, Mercy, Every Breaking Wave, Electrical Storm, Your Blue Room, Bad, Out of Control... And I still miss POP...

    The best concerts, off the top of my head, in my opinion, were: Turin 2010, Chicago 2011 and Brazil II 2011...

    And, of course, B´s voice is the best since POP!

  2. off the top of my head the best performances seem to be : Australia 2, Rome 2010, Anaheim 2 (2011), Chicago 2009 (both), Wembley 2, and Mexico 3. haha Still randomly moved that Scarlet of all things was played haha Sounds soo good (minus the Bono speech) and just ZOOROPA. Holy shit. How amazing is that for all those who've seen it? Is it not just THE song of the tour?

  4. I love to see how they threw out the new shit and grabbed some good old classics and songs that never been played before.. great combo, it sounds and it feels great.
    Like Edge said.. the show has radically changed compared to 2009 and it's much stronger now

  6. the highlights for me have been Barcelona, Berlin, Wembley, Chicago (09 and 11), East Rutherford, Turin, Zurich, BrusselsSan Sebastian, La Plata, Mexico and probably Pittsburgh and Moncton (yet to happen).

    This has been their best tour since Zoo TV.
  7. There's only one thing that has disapointed me in this tour, and it was at the begining in Barcelona, I thought that finally it was the moment of Drowning Man, I loved to hear it a lot of times in the soundchecks, but unfortunatelly, they haven't played it
  8. While I've really enjoyed this tour it seemed to signal the end of U2 as a relevent band to modern music. Initially criticised by fans for only playing the same 7 songs from the new album, they now play a grand total of 3 songs: of which one is an unrecognisable remix, another is a closer that most casual fans walk out of the stadium unhappy with, and the other is THE single that deterred people from listening to the album.

    It might just be me but no album symbolises the album's failure more than GOYB. Or maybe it was when the one stadium rock anthem, Magnificent, disappeared from the set list.

    Say what you will about ATYCLB & HTDAAB, but the band still load songs from those albums into the set's climax as audiences enjoy it. Will we see any NLOTH songs on the next tour?

    I won't be too negative. The balance of songs was generally excellent; mixing hits with fan favourites and resurrecting a number of songs that we never expected is what the tour will be remembered for. The production, sound and performances have all been top notch.

    Make no mistake though; from being the biggest band in the world a decade ago this album/ tour has more or less confined U2 to touring relics from yester-year.

    And the dvd was shite.

    The last part of the tour looks more at the past than the first 3 legs did, as in the final part of the Vertigo Tour.

    So if you sum the publication dates of the songs of Montreal 2 and divide by 24, you get 1994,04. This is the gravity center of this last part of U2 360.

    For comparison, Barcelona II had an average of 1997,01. I didn't check Glasto, but I guess it should be around 1991/92, if not earlier.

    But we also saw new songs - all in all, I think 7 plus 5/6 recent songs were played during this tour. Which is great. Then, I think it may be OK if the new stuff only covers a part of the setlist (though 3 or 4 new songs, as in the last shows, is only about 1/6 - at most - of the entire setlist... 1/4 would be better).

    Reasons to be confident in U2's potential to write good songs, even now?

    (Perhaps) Boy Falls from the Sky

    The great singles all definitely lie in the past... but U2 still most so definitely rock! And NLOTH had great songs.

    Here's to new great singles, but, most importantly, new great music. And thanks for putting up such a terrific show.

Great tour, only the absence of POP is sad for me ;/ i was hoping that after Glasto (the shows before it were like a rehearsal) we would see at least 1-2 new songs before the end of the tour, but the setlist si stuck (and i dont mean rotational songs and few surprises after MoS) + almost identical encore for 3 years (Vertigo tour was better in that way), but otherwise great!
