    Good points. They played they "standard" recent setlist this past Monday and I loved every minute of it. Being there is, obviously, so much different than reading about it on-line night after night. I only started following concert setlists during this tour. I still considered myself an avid U2 (edit) fan back in 2005 and was on the edge of my seat during the Vertigo show I attended - although the songs played were still relatively similar each night.

    I keep saying this but I'll say it one more time: It's a good thing these forums didn't exist during the ZooTV tour. Now that was a rather stagnant (although brilliant) setlist.

    Much easier to change a setlist in an arena. The European legs of Vertigo didn't change much either.

  3. The Fly is a better gig than Magnificent. I just don't think Bono (or other band members) could keep up with the pace of that Acting Baby opening. Magnificent is a slow pacer to allow them to catch a breath.

    Yeah, one could reasonably argue that Popmart was worse than ZooTV in terms of a lack of setlist rotation. However, PopMart isn't as revered by the public as much as ZooTV. In other words, any of the issues it had go beyond it's lack of song rotation.

    I love both tours - make that all three tours being discussed here - for the record. I'm just talking/typing.

Got home too late last night, to post anything.I had great seats,section 101,row 11 on Adams side of the stage.The claw (as always),is breathtaking up close.The setlist was solid,I liked hearing Magnificent (I admit,I really love that tune).IWF in the 2nd slot worked well.I think The Fly 3rd,then UTEOTW 4th would have really knocked us out.MW is a solid tune,but its kinda slow after IWF.

    The crowd in GA looked uncomfortably restricted.Montreals GA was 3 times the size.I was glad I had a great seat,no worries of losing your spot on the beer/pee run.

    The classics went over very well.My section went nuts over BD and Elevation.Each time I say they should drop Elevation,the crowd at my show goes bonkers.I can see why they play it,same goes for MW.

    Stay sounded wonderful.Zooropa was fantastic.I love the fact it has stayed in the set.Though,I hate to admit,most in my section, seemed lost during the song.I mean,the band have a CD RELEASE with this name.Strange.I waited for the Crazy Remix,they played it,I promptly ran off the the mens room.I like Scarlet (again,fans had no clue whatsoever) before Walk On.

    One and Streets, were my highlights, for this show.I love the Hallelujah intro before Streets.No Shine Like Stars to close out WOWY,MOS was played well,but,should not end the show.Singing Happy Birthday to Nelson was a nice touch to end it.

    Overall,great time,great seats,everything concidered,very good show.

    I don't understand. Why do fans still think that the majority of an audience at a U2 show is made up of hardcore fans who get bored reading setlists from their computer screen?

    It's sad that some people on U2 forums get so easily bored, frustrated and deluded because they know every details from every show the band has played in the last 2 years. It takes away so much of the magic and excitement that usually comes with a U2 show. I've come to the conclusion that it's much better not to read setlists or follow the discussions before you go to a U2 show, because you are kind of robbing yourself of an amazing experience. Sad to see that, but on the other hand it's good to know that the vast majority of people going to a U2 show still enjoy the concert and have a good time.

    One of the benefits of the tour ending - which is sad, but also necessary - is that it will finally bring an end to the endless setlist controversy.

    I don't understand why people seem to feel the need to get a "surprise" to be able to enjoy a show. I went to the Montreal 1 show and the Toronto show over the past week, both had the same exact setlist without any surprises, and I still wouldn't change them for the world. I had an amazing time both nights, and I can't even imagine leaving a gig being upset becuase I didn't get to hear a song after MOS, or whatever.

    Even sitting here watching setlists appear, I don't think "sucks that they didn't try something new" when I see a standard setlist, I think "I bet everyon had a great time, I wish I could've been there".

    Sure, when they play a song like One Tree Hill I get even more excited and jealous, but that doesn't take away from the shows where they don't play rare songs. As someone else said, it's a good thing these people didn't have a place like this during the ZooTV tour, they would have been pulling their hair out.

  9. i'd wish to attend every single show and in such a way "envy" for those who are there .. said that .. if everyone simply say wow awesome great beautiful and so on what kind of discussion it would be?
    or one had the lucky to attend the show or if not one talk for what he read listened watched and sometimes some critics can come out .. it's normal for what i think it's a discussion.
    and someone should be happy as hell to go to a show just because it's a U2 show not for what he can read in forums
    if at ZooTv times there would have been internet and forums maybe it would have been same as now .. but it wouldn't have changed what the ZooTv was like now for the 360


  10. Thanks,it was a solid night.Leaving the stadium was such a breeze,compared to the madness of Montreal (1 Metro line for 80,000 fans).Im really looking forward to the NJ gig.Cant believe I bought the tickets for my 4 shows in November 2009......

    So first off Interpol was great, I wasn't expecting much from them but I loved it, especially "Barricade"
    From my seats (220) we could see U2 coming out and onto the stage (we were sort of near the back on Edge's side). I was already hoarse after The Real Thing and when Edge started the riff of I Will Follow I was thinking what? For some reason I couldn't think of what the song was for the first couple seconds but then I got it. So when IWF ended I thought Boots time. But nope, Mysterious Ways. The next surprise was Magnificent after Boots, and it wasn't the crap remix ! Bono barely sung during ISHFWILF, we sung most of it. Stay was alright, loved the Astronaut part during Beautiful Day. Loved the Miss Sarajevo/Questions/Zooropa bit. The two "bomb" songs were amazing. The only good part about Crazy Tonight was the Discotheque snippet. The Hallelujah snippet after One was amazing. Streets was awesome as usual. Batman and WOWY were amazing, and BONO ACTUALLY SANG DURING WOWY!!!! . Alot of people left after WOWY (haha) and Moment of Surrender was awesome. Then there's Bono "there's one more thing we need to do." Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela.

    Ironically we parked in Lot U Section 2
    People seem to think honking makes traffic go faster...
