It was awesome. During UTEOTW the bridge Edge was on stopped right by us for a good two minutes. He played the whole last verse and the outro about four feet from me
I think I posted the YouTube video of Beautiful Day in the Nashville thread. Bono ended up right beside us. He also sang a good bit of Miss Sarajevo on the bridge close to me as well. Great, great night. The Wanderer was awesome
just saw this on tv news. during a concert of a country band called Sugarland, there was a heavy thunderstorm -- and the main stage collapsed and crashed onto people they say 4 are dead and over 20 or so injured. I don't know this band at all, but I think all of us can relate only too well of how bad this must have been, after we've all stood literally under tons of steel during the past two years. so sad.
I live in Indiana, very near Indianapolis. I've been to concerts there at that very stage...and to hear about all of this, to be watching coverage of this for the last 13 hours...just shocking. I'm glad that all 5 of the people I know who were at the concert are safe- and at least a couple of them rushed down to try and help. Sad to hear that 5 people have passed away- and more are still in critical condition. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Just...so sad.
:edit: And the crazy thing is- it wasn't really storming. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued about 10 minutes before the stage collapsed. It wasn't raining yet, and there wasn't really much of any thunder or lightning yet, either. They're saying it was called a "gust front"- a line of wind that came through at 60+ mph and just...yeah. There are a bunch of other structures there that could have been blown over- there are a bunch of fair rides (like Ferris wheels), other pavilions, etc...and none of them came down. Just the stage. Crazy.
A really scary video of that accident was shown in our news report a few hours ago, I was really shocked... I'm so sad for those injured and dead and for their families.
