1. Oh, well. I don't like covers of U2 songs, but Carola (Swedish artist you may know) has quite an amazing voice.

  2. Anyone?
  3. Yep, how's everything going Olof?
  4. Decently, school started again today. Time for my last year in the mandatory primary school. Was kinda fun, but the fun will vanish after some time, as usual.

    How about you Kieran?
  5. Everything is okay. I've been back at school for almost a week now, and settling into my final year of school ever. Quite weird.

Currently writing an opinion piece for my Tumblr 'rant' blog - taking influence off Charlie Brooker, and practicing to write critically. May put up the link of my blog sometime very soon.

Up to anything at the moment?
  6. Not much, lazily watching a TV show and hanging out in this thread

So you feel that you've completed your education, or are you going to educate yourself further?

In a way I can't wait for this year to end, and then get to choose the direction of my education. In another way it's gonna be damn weird to no longer go to the school that I've gone to every morning in what's then going to be ten years. Damn weird. But exciting.
  7. No no, If I felt that I had completed my education, I would have just left school and got a job. I'm completing this final year of school to get more qualifications then possibly to university or college or something. It's just that I'm doing Journalism and need to practise critical & discursive writing. Also needs to be practised for English at school as well. Besides, I love ranting and criticising, so it's ideal for me.

We finish primary school at 11/12 here, so it's weird you saying that you are finishing primary school soon and you are 15. High school is unbelivably demanding - the work to put in is massive. I've never worked to the limit, that's why my grades have never been perfect. But it is very exciting choosing a career path. When I found out what I wanted to do, it sounded great, and was looking forward to it. Still am.
  8. Well, our school systems are different. The last year of primary school are considered very tough by most people.

I love arguing/discussing and that kind of stuff as well.
  9. Do you have to do really important exams on the final year of primary school?

So do I. I'm currently ranting on about Fall Out Boy.
  10. We have some very important exams yes. But not as important as yours I'd think, since your school is much more centered around exams I think.

This year will determine where all of us can go for our further education. If you don't get good grades, you can't go where you want.

I'm aiming for the best grades possible. I have 18 subjects, get to take two grades off of my final points total or whatever I should call it. Maximum number of points is 320. I think it's possible for me.
  11. Yeah, everything here is mainly based around exams and what you get in your results.

Wait, you have 18 subjects? Oh my god, that's loads! I would never be able to handle that at all.

We have this system where you can easily get into the 5th year, unless you completely ruined your Standard Grade's. But, when you get into 6th year, it's all based on a points system. You need 15 points to get into 6th year & each subject and it's level represents the points. It's hard for some people, but I have bang on 15. Not that I found it difficult to get into 6th year, just because it happened to work that way.
  12. In Sweden, in the old grade system that I'm in (there's a new one now, but those in the final year of primary school gets to finish without changing system) there are basically four grades. IG=did not pass=0 points G=passed=10 points VG=well passed=15 points MVG=very well passed=20 points

Then you only count the 16 best grades, and get your total amount of points. That gives a maximum number of 320 points. Some have 17 subjects, I have 18, because I chose to learn another language.

I had 305 points at the end of the last year. Which is extremely good, since the teachers generally don't want to give the highest grade until the last year, because they don't want to have to lower a grade.
