  12. In France, when you have "general studies" and reach what we called "la première" (age 16/17), you have to choose between three courses of study:

    - Literary
    - Scientific
    - Economic and Social

    I chose the last one, which is kind of a mix of the first two : 4 hours of French on the first year, then 4 hours of Philosophy on the second year ; 4 hours of Mathematics (+2 hours since I chose Maths speciality), 4 hours of History and Geography, 6 hours of Economics and Sociology, 3 hours of English, 2 of Spanish, 1 and a half of biology on the first year and then none...

    This lasts for two years, then you have to pass the "Bac" to go to University. That's where I am now, entering my second year of something very general, studying politics, history, economics, sociology...
