  7. In France, when you have "general studies" and reach what we called "la première" (age 16/17), you have to choose between three courses of study:

    - Literary
    - Scientific
    - Economic and Social

    I chose the last one, which is kind of a mix of the first two : 4 hours of French on the first year, then 4 hours of Philosophy on the second year ; 4 hours of Mathematics (+2 hours since I chose Maths speciality), 4 hours of History and Geography, 6 hours of Economics and Sociology, 3 hours of English, 2 of Spanish, 1 and a half of biology on the first year and then none...

    This lasts for two years, then you have to pass the "Bac" to go to University. That's where I am now, entering my second year of something very general, studying politics, history, economics, sociology...

    I'm pretty sure I'll end up in science. Although I love politics and cultures and that stuff as well. And I'm damn good at it in school.

    I was good at science too actually until I chose to stop doing them. I loved doing equations, I was even the only one enjoying stuff like n = m/M in chemistry. But I knew I'd never be a scientist or a doctor, so I decided to do economics and sociology, which I felt would be useful for me in order to do what I want to do in the future.
  11. You are in the sort of area I'm interested in, Thib. I love social studies. Only one I've never done is Sociology, which I wanted to do this year, but I couldn't because when you choose your subjects here in school, it's done in columns, and certain subjects are in columns. So in some cases, you might not be able to take what you want. Quite a bitch.
